Acebeam EC50 Gen II 5000K review with measurements (XHP70, 26650)

really like the bloody beam and tint on this light. Thank you for the beam shots.

With that kind of review they should have given you the light for free! You earned it.

Here are links to the individual beamshots if you’d rather compare them at your own pace.

Do you have one in trail of g30?

Sorry no, had my pockets full of lights. There’s not much difference to the EC4SW though. But as can be seen from the runtimes, the G30 will hold the high output for much longer.

So, the spill is more narrow than L6?

Excellent testing, especially the color rendering part that is missing from most reviews. Horrid color reproduction from most lights unfortunately. Still the host seems nice.

They are all almost identical in spill size. Ignore the brightess differences, the lights weren’t on turbo.

Excellent review @maukka, as always. :+1:

Very good Maukka, thanks for the shots.

So, do you think the G30 worth to buy (in overall qualities of the light) or do you think there are another better choice?

The G30 is great if you can stand its UI and bigger size. Personally I like the EC50 II and Nitecore EC4SW better all in all.

edit: of course for the $50 that the G30 has been sold previously it’s a steal

I am planning to buy this light, since it’s tint is a plus factor for me being a little on the neutral white side, hmm… i wonder how to achieve the manufacturer’s rating of 3000 lumens?

What do you have in mind?

Thanks for Your review, I rally appreciate Your job.

A question arises : what’s the CCT of the 6000K version of EC50 gen II? :smiling_imp: if is around 5500K too, I will chose that version!

As an update, here’s the behavior of the thermal regulation in the EC50 II. I repeatedly switch a cooling fan off and on while the light was running on the highest turbo mode.

After the thermal stepdown happens, cooling doesn’t recover the former output, you have to switch the light off an on. Thermal protection kicks in when the light reaches ~70°C measured from the surface of the hottest point in the head.

The manufacturer’s specification on 5 hours on medium mode seems to match my runtime test.

Dude, this might be the most thorough review I have ever seen! Unbelievable amount of detail you put in this! If manufacturers are giving lights away for free to reviewers, you definitely deserve the same treatment! lol
On to the light, this light seems to stand above the rest (R50,TM03,Klarus G20) in it’s class! While their lumens/runtime claims aren’t quite 100% accurate, the actual graph is still VERY impressive! It might be because I’ve been in the flashlight game for so long, but it was only 10 years ago that our only handheld 500 lumen option was the Surefire M6, which used 6 NON RECHARGEABLE CR123 batteries and gave us 500 lumens for a whopping 20 minutes! LOL!!! Seems almost unimagineable that now we have a much smaller light that gives the same output for 15x as long, and you never have to buy batteries for! Alright… I’m done ranting lol
I really wish we could get a groupbuy for this light! Who’s in???

I’m in……

Forgot to measure the standby current, but it’s 106.5 microamps. So for a 5000mAh battery, five years and a bit.

Fantastic review! I am working on a review for the EC50 II as well. Compared to my R50, I prefer the EC50 II hands down. A fantastic light. I have a G20 on the way as well so I’ll do comparisons of the three together as well. I love your thermal videos and runtime & tint data! Again, great review!

Thanks for the review.
