Olight S Mini

I’m thinking that the rainbow colored one should be called Bud Light!

Raw copper is antibacterial, therefore when you handle it, it kills germs on your skin. The “smell” comes from the cornucopia of bacterial fauna as some decompose after being killed or are consumed by other bacteria types more resistant to copper ions.

Unless you are allergic to copper, not harmful to you. Different skin chemistries and bacterial loads make for a range of scent and strength. Mostly smells acrid and coppery to me, not too bad. Some describe it as a “old onion” smell…

I know about the AB properties of Cu (and Ag), but never noticed the smell. I’m kind of Seinfeldian and always washing my hands after touching anything nasty, so I don’t give the buggers the chance to grow in the first place.

Not a strong smell for me, but my sensitivity is not that high either. I guess for some it is an issue, but they got it covered with the Titanium versions… Lol

I never got a bare copper S1, which is a bummer. Maybe I can get a bare copper S Mini.

OTOH, the rainbow one is an interesting option too. And both black and silver look nice. Really, the only ones I don’t want are gold and grey.

It’s unfortunate that Olight still has an obsession with cool white. I guess I’ll have to change the emitter. XP-L HI 5000K should look nice, or Nichia 219C 5000K. It uses an XM-sized pad though, so I guess I’ll have to change the whole MCPCB.

Anyone wanna convince Olight to do a special batch with better emitters and no PVD? Like what Goinggear did for the copper S1, only with better tint. Only problem is, I think they have a minimum custom-batch order quantity of like 3000 units.

TK, I tried a 219C in my S1…that was horrible, the beam is f*cked up really bad
No idea about the XP-L though

Oh damn, they are sexy little lights. All colors are great, i don´t know which i should buy..... GB for a Set off all six ???

Wow, Battery Junction has pre-order up on the Ti version at 80 bux! Don’t think I will do that, maybe 60 but not 80. Coppers at 65, might do that.

Good to know. Thanks!

I’d imagine XP-L should be a bit better. I’m hoping XP-L HI will work, but I don’t know how sensitive the optic is to the lack of a dome. Worst case, I could get a NW XM-L2 and live with the beam having different tints at different places.

Well, an XP-L is an XM-L die in a smaller footprint so technically it should have the same optical properties with the dome…
Try and tell us ?

The XP-L dome isn’t the same as the XM-L dome, even if the die itself is the same. If the optic is sensitive enough that a 219C looks bad in it, the size and shape of the dome might matter.

In any case, I won’t know any time soon. Not even sure when the lights will be available to buy or which one(s) I’ll get.

I tried the XP-G3 in my S1R and it was just plain nasty. This optic looks to be really tuned for the XM-L2. But, it looks great with my old standby XM-L2 4C!

Well, this doesn’t look promising for XP-L…
We’re stuck with XM-L2 but you can choose some nice tint/CRI anyway.
I choose a 5D1 80+ CRI from INTL outdoor and fell in love for the second time with my S1 ti

Hm im confused, are these smaller then S1 baton or ?

From first post :

Okay shame it doesnt have a magnetic tailcap, i was gonna buy one but for that price i have to pass.

Oh, I didn’t realized that they had to remove it :frowning:
That may be my favorite feature in those little lights…

They are expensive and without the magnet… I think it is off the table. That is so useful that I will not give it up.

Yup, for that price without magnet is a real bummer. Put back the magnets olight please.

That can’t be done with that overall length for sure…
They wanted to make it as smallest as possible, there was some compromise to do :face_with_monocle:
You can still glue a 20mm neodymium magnet on the tail cap, if made properly it shouldn’t be too ugly :crown:
