Nice Review Gunga, thanks for all your hard work! Itās a really thorough presentation of the light, with the pros and cons impartially stated. (I also enjoyed reading Daleās review, with its many, precise close-up pictures.)
Brass material and more complex machining aside, I canāt help but compare the Pineappleās modes and functionality with L3 Illumination L10C/11C. Having several of the latter already, I donāt think that Iāll spend my loot on the formerā¦ but if I was in the market for a brass AA light, this would certainly be a tempting choice, at a bargain price.
No argument there, though I thankfully have had no such issues. Also, the clicky switch on the L10C/L11C is not my favorite, and just from looking at the pictures in this review, it seems like the overall build quality of the L10C/L11C is not comparable to this light. I was just looking at emitter/tint quality, and output levels.
The glow material is a glow sticker I purchased from eBay (I got two colours). Unfortunately the seller no longer sells it so Iām unsure of where to get more Itās nice, seems fairly heat resistant and glows a long time.
I punch or cut the rings out myself and use it on most of my lights where possible (and sell it for triple optics).
I also bought some glow tape for more variety in colours, itās vinyl and is more soft and does not glow as long.
I recently saw this light on Massdrop and wasnāt able to buy a couple before the quota was met. Luckily that allows me time to do some research. How is the light holding up? Are you polishing it or allowing patina to take over? Iād like to see some pictures of how it looks now.

Pwm on max too? I didnāt detect any but that was a visual check. What frequencies did you measure?

2 kHz on low, mid and high. The duty cycle on high is so high that it is more difficult to see it. With low and medium the light shuts off between pulses for such a long time that it is easy to see.
And also the noise is there afterall on mid and high if you put your ear right next to the light. Canāt hear it on low.
FWIW, newer versions do 9 kHz instead of 2 kHz. Itās a pretty nice upgrade. Most people couldnāt see it pulsing before, but now itās even farther out of the human perceptual range.
Only the first batch ran at 2 kHz. A few people complained and he got the driver updated to 9 kHz for later batches.
Itās twice as fast as a lot of premium brands like Eagletac. Iāve also found slower PWM on items from Zebralight, Olight, and Jetbeam. But even at half the speed, the only way for a human to see it is if the light source (or its reflection) moves very quickly across their vision, in which case it shows up as a dotted streak.
