Low-cost copper pills, spacers, optics, drop-ins (Updated 23/10/2022))

any chance you would be interested in making aluminium tail-switch-part-thing for Convoy C8 flashlights that could be used to make remote pressure switch? Just like regular pressure remote switch but only aluminium part, without the wire and the rest … ?

I dont know what are the problems with the existing parts and why you cant use them, but if you can help with the drawing, why not?

Threads are the problem, convoy is using square threads, everyone else have V shaped threads.
I don’t really know how would I measure that, don’t have thread gauge.

Why you cant use stock Convoy v3 tail with internals from remote swich made for chinese C8?

If I were to buy one I’d only consider 18650 and 18350.

Simon has a remote pressure switch in the works.

Let it be so.
18350 - head+neck+tail
18650 - head+neck+short extender+tail
Both should be about 18mm shorter than stock hosts with short/standart extender.
Neck have about 12mm legth external surface (d=31.7). I think that fins could not be made well on copper at this moment, so I think this surface will be just polished.
If they will be made from aluminium in future, some ribs with 3.5mm height can be added there. I would like to try some coating on one of such part but unfortunatly small quantities killing this idea.
P.S. Have forgot one important thing. Driver place is far away from the tail side of this project so simple desicions wont work. It will have screw-in from top pill with driver retaining. Bigger one for carclo triple/quad and smaller one for carclo 26.5mm single optics.

External finish does not bother me at all. Plain is perfectly fine. Machine marks are fine.
Completely lost me on the thread coating. Why? driver is the insulated part and only turns on with body contacting it. It already works perfectly fine as a 1/4 Turn twisty of the head with the switch ON. By it’s current design, it will work as a twisty.

If you want to rotate head (not tail) it will work without coating.
I just need to understand why you dont want to make such improvement with simple insert?
Can you make simple hand drawing, what do you have know and what do you want to receive?

I received my order today, 2 weeks from Russia to Canada, well packed and everything very nice !
Thanks
Robert

Received my order today and am very happy about it.

Do you mean something like this Tool tailcap , just made out of copper?

Is the sk68 copper pill on or off the table? You had a short list going. Some other good things you’re doing here.

No kidding. Thanks but Yes copper is essential
Thanks, should have looked.
Nick

I received my pills arrived today. They came quick and were packed very well.

I’ve built a s2+ triple so far and am very happy with the quality of the pill. The threads are perfect, and everything fit together great.

Thanks kiriba-ru, I’m sure I’ll be back for more.

vwpieces had met with problems building M2 quad (What did you mod today? - #1578 by vwpieces), but I still don`t have enough information to undertand what`s wrong.
I think I need to write what you should to do and what you should not do to avoid such situations.

1) Please check parts after you have received them as soon as you can. I couldn`t expect that someone will ever order host for me spacer, anyway most have host when parts are received so just spend few minutes to make sure that all fit well.
(I hope all undrestand that I can`t foresee if somebody in china has decided to change manufacturing process).
2) Please DO NOT start to mill, sand, cut part if you see that it don`t fit. Just look why it don`t and measure dimentions of problem zone.
(I hope all understand that this will help me to determine where the problem is).
3) Please contact me as soon as you realized that you can`t put parts together without extra machining.
(This can prevent other member from meeting same problems).

I`m 99% sure that all versions of Convoy M2 have same size reflector. And this means that same spacer can fit all versions.
I have bought mine in june from banggood. It is pill-less, with square-cutted threads, without TM text after Convoy, frosted finish.
Reflector dimensions are similar to those from:

- 2014 year BLF review (square threads, pill-less): Review: Convoy M2 2014 Version (XM-L2 T6 4C, 1x18650)

  • 2013 year fasttech photo (triangle threads, brass pill):

This fact allows me to suppose that spacer height is right. Please do not try to repeit soldering extra disks over spacer.
Different hosts may have different internals (reflector shape allows to remove more or less material inside head), upper lip OD can be simply reduced for next batches.

Now I need some help from members that have Convoy M2 host. Neverless what version do you have.
Please help me to specify several dimentions that can be different in different host.
-PCB shelf size. I know that nobody have such caliper to measure it, just try to put a)Noctigon XP20 and b)stock hexagon pcb inside. Mine could fit last which is about 20.9mm.
-Distance from head top to the first internal step. Mine one had 7.7mm.
-ID of threads that are over this step. I have measured 29.3mm.
Please understand my position. I am not able to have all revisions of all versions of all flashlights. I need much more feedback to make universal suitable parts. Waiting replies.

Wow! Great delivery time from Russia to the USA! My three item order arrived packaged impressively well. Everything looks to be in great shape. One item is an X6 spacer; I have not tried the fitment yet but it looks good. It may take me a few days to get to the actual mod. Anyhow, I am happy! I will consider kiriba-ru for further ourchases. Thank you very much!

I received your kit a while ago. I receive my flashlight today : http://www.banggood.com/Convoy-M2-Upgrade-Version-DIY-EDC-LED-Flashlight-Host-1-x-18650-p-951513.html
new version without pill
The only problem I had to assemble it is with the ring with a groove that fit inside the flaslight over the optic, there were an asperity. I file it and everything fit nicely.
I put the o-ring that come with the flashlight inside the grove on this ring and the lens over it and screw the stainless steel ring over it. I have bought verything from you except the flashlihgt and the driver ( pill, leds, optic ) and no problem so far
Thanks
Robert
