Jaxman Z1 Discussion

As long as its not damaged no drama right? Who cares about the packaging lol

Hmm though not a drama that “Z1” scribbled box does not look or feel premium.
OK the brown Jaxman box is not a Olight case but opening it and seeing all the parts in their own slot certainly gives the impression of the care that went into the product.

When did you order this?

I ordered another host from Jaxman yesterday. I’ll let you know how it was packaged when it arrives.

I was one of the people who requested a host individually very early on. That was before any group conversation, just because I asked for one directly.

They weren’t really prepared to sell many hosts and filled at least one early order — mine — by sending out the full commercial box package — before they figured out that we’d keep wanting hosts beyond the early few requests.

I asked why I got more than I expected and the reply was it was the easy way to make sure the package got out to me promptly in good shape.

I was and am grateful. I wouldn’t expect that if I buy another host now, as I probably will.

By now they must be organized to set the host parts aside, and send them in the typical padded bags, rather than using the full commercial box packaging.

Ah hank that sounds reasonable and logical, thanks.

I agree! One also must realize that I did not order a host; I ordered a factory light for $50.85 + $7.28 shipping! So, picky or not, I did expect the brown factory box. Furthermore, I tend to wonder if this light was used! The lens was not the typical “factory shiny” lens and chipped on one edge. Not only is the box a plain box but it is all wrinkled and previously had something written in pen then the model Z1 and tint 1A had been written over that in Sharpie. Lastly, others have stated their lights did not come from Singapore while this one did. For $58.13 I did expect this to be in proper order.

This was ordered on Sept. 10, 2016 and arrived yesterday Oct. 3, 2016. Here is the tracking # which clearly shows it came from Singapore; RB093395780SG. Also, under my description in parenthesis is the name Paul Bo? I presume this is someone from the Jaxman company since the name under the two Convoy 18350’s is Simon Mao, who I know is with Convoy.

Thanks! When you receive your tracking, please let me know if it is shipping from China or Singapore.

Ordered a host and spare parts from Jax direct (Suizhou Jaxman Electronics Co.,Ltd.)

Both came from China.

Brett, I went back and checked all of mine. They all shipped from China.

Also, Paul Bo is the owner. Jaxman himself……

You did buy it from his store on AliExpress didn’t you?? HERE

Heck, send him a PM here on BLF along with the picture and ask him what the deal is. From all indications he is a very nice guy, I’m sure he would not mind you asking.

Keep us posted…………

EDIT……
Here is my tracking for my ’hosts’ up to when they reached the USA. I “think” I am reading it correctly that it shipped from China??? (but sometimes I am not the sharpest pencil in the box…. :person_facepalming: … .)

I just checked the tracking number from my first Jaxman Z1, and it was shipped via Singapore Post. Mine was one of the first ten hosts sold to BLF members.

Yes Sir! That is the place. Here is a link to what I ordered; Jaxman Z1

Wow! Very interesting. I am almost afraid to open this thing and check the build!

My host arrived today. Ordered Aug 25th from Jaxman Aliexpress store.

It came very nicely packaged in a brown Jaxman branded box. I’m excited to get home and build it up.

They all all come from China. They just have a choice of what postal carrier they use.
If the tracking number ends in SG then they opted for Singapore Post.

Any idea of what your going to mod it with?

MT-G2 with the kaidomain fx-6 driver and two new litokala 26650s.

I’ve biked to the lake with it, just waiting for it to get dark.

That sounds like a great build ‘Sciencetists’… looking forward to seeing the beam shot pics.

The one you posted above, with the reflection in the lens; is great.

Have fun……… :+1:

Waiting on your thoughts on the MTG2. I’ll probably put one in the Z1 host I just ordered, but first I plan to put an XPL-HI in it.
I want to have a shootout between two Jaxman Z1s.
XHP35 HI vs XPL HI just so we can put that argument to bed.

PS: Which Lake is that?

This was over at Guelph lake. Sorry guys, I wasn’t having much luck taking beamshots with my cell phone camera, that lens reflection above did turn out cool though.

I was in a bit of a rush to get out of the house so I didn’t have time to charge up my batteries, they were both at about 3.8v which is how they shipped to me. Despite that, I was still very impressed with the output.

Overall I was less impressed with the fully zoomed throw than I expected to be. I knew that it wouldn’t be a “pencil beam” but still thought the hotspot would be a bit brighter. The MT-G2 emitter looks cool zoomed to its smallest. You could clearly make out all (32?) of the squares which make up the emitter at about 50’ away. Unfortunately the camera couldn’t make them out.

My impression of this light changed once I zoomed it all of the way to flood, wow! I’ve never owned any SRK, Meteor or other super floody lights and have never experienced anything like this. Fully zoomed out I would guess this thing could flood an area of at least 100 foot square. It’s great because when it is zoomed out it blankets everything within 100m in uniform illumination. If there is a certain spot in the distance which is not quite being illuminated enough, you can just give it a twist and gain an extra boost to what you can see in this area. I would bet this light would be a blast to have with you hiking in mountains or somewhere with long valleys to look down into.

To start, I put together a very basic build. FX-6 driver with an un-bypassed carobronze spring from fasttech. The tailcap has not been bypassed. I’m also using one of the double spring contact boards sold by Jaxman for connecting flattop cells. To me these little double spring boards seem like they would have quite a bit of resistance. Should I be concerned enough to switch to a magnet?

Also, is there any difference in how resistance in springs and such affects current at the higher voltages of a 2 cell light? This is my first time doubling up cells. Should I be looking at bypassing the springs in this light for a boost in output? What about a shave de-dome, would anyone recommend this for the 5000k MT-G2 from intl-outdoor?

Dude, your cells were virtually DEAD and you were still impressed! Charge em up, do bypasses, solder a blip on top of the rear cell so it’ll contact the back of the front cell (throw away that little divider with the tiny springs) and try again. Grab onto something, you’re gonna be blown away!
