Brightest Pocketable Flashlight! - Review

VoB is that you in the video?

almost (emphasis added) almost seems like an mhanlen (or whats his new name?) video.

thanks for the heads up

Psiiiick! Nice review Matt, I gotta learn how to do that Karate move off the top of a compact light, that’s gotta make the light brighter by a fair margin!

Small pocketable high output light. Well, my Noctigon M43 makes 10,000 but nobody ever believes me. Reckon I don’t have to go on about how hot it gets…

I built a triple XHP-50 X6 that made a little over 9K with an extension tube and a pair of 18650’s, but it made so much heat I had to reduce it to a pair of 18350’s and some 6K.

Point is, I believe it can do it, but what about the heat? Hope it has a solid lock-out, if that comes on in a pocket somebody’s in trouble!

Beautiful light, beautiful blue bezel, gotta find a couple a Benji’s. Thanks to you. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks Matt, prc8 it!

Edit: Charged the M34’s cells and put it in the lightbox just now, 9694.5 lumens in Turbo or the highest level of 64 ramping levels.

Beauty!!!

Nice review! :+1: I thought about doing video reviews but haven’t tried that idea yet.

It staggers the mind to see that many lumens coming out of that small a package. I’ve seen grown hardened hunters giggle like little kids. Seriously! From Preachers to Cops to Brick Masons and Home Health Care LVN’s, that many lumens astonishes people. DO NOT accidentally turn it on it Turbo while it’s facing your face!!!

Edit: To clarify, the Preacher I’m referring to also runs an exotic game hunting lodge, he’s well versed in high performance lights. Giggled like a little girl. Kid you not!

Matt, do you know if this Olight is battery specific?

The test I just did on my M43 was with Samsung 30Q’s, freshly charged, to get 9,694 lumens. Freshly charged LG HE-4 cells make 10,315.5. Freshly charged LG HE-2 cells make 10,798.5. This is an FET direct drive set-up so it’s cell specific, wondering if the Olight has fluctuation with cells or is it a Buck circuitry that remains stable with virtually any high discharge cell?

I’ve read that there will be X9 supposed to be released next year with more than 10,000 lumens

That’s insane, and I love it. What does that make me? Gotta google it…

OUCH! OK, it’s too much for me. But I do feel desire for it. It’s definitely not a budget light. I’ll wait for the Qlight, it’s much more within my price range.

entertaining review. great light as well. i just wish turbo can be memorized.
the vinh version allows turbo to be memorized but now the cost is way up.
his version with his driver boosted the lumens to over 16k!

nice video!

thanks for sharing your work! :)

blueb8llz, think about that for a minute. I have 3 XHP-70’s in a massive BTU Shocker with that kind of output and it gets HOT! Imagine stuffing them in that small of a light with a direct drive FET driver like I did the Shocker… might possibly be a dangerous scenario! It’ll probably burn your hand in about 30 seconds (maybe even more like 15 seconds!).

I guess I’m getting old. I’m beginning to understand that just because you can does not mean you should.

(Old enough to know better, young enough to not care… :smiling_imp: )

With great power comes great responsibility! :face_with_monocle:

Great video! Enjoyed that.
9k output but it still has firefly mode. My kind of UI.

 Hey thanks. That might be the nicest thing anyone has said to me all week! I wish I had camera skills (and equipment) like Mhanlen does!

I’m actually not sure Dale. I will check into that this evening.

Nice video, enjoyed that, thanks for making it!

I’d love to have that flashlight, but in neutral high CRI (and on a budget of course  )

Awesome light. Bet its bux though

I saw over $275 when I googled it.

That is about right. For the light only its like $195, if you want the setup with batteries and charger its $275ish.

Very true. Thanks for saving me $300 lol
How long can you use the shocker on turbo before turning down or off?

To the op, do you have a tn36ut? I’m curious to see a showdown since the two are very similar.

I know olight is a profesional e-commerce LED manufacturers while if this sentense ,Boasting 9,000 Lumens from its 3 x Cree XHP70 emitters, is right ,Dose the item will be very hot ?
