AA/14500 Driver

Hi All My Smallsun M10%mode died tioday I tried a 14500 battery.

I clicked it on and off then NO LIGHT

I need a good driver any modes that will accept AA/14500 batteries.

The driver seems to be 15-16mm

Is this a good one?

Would like up 4.2v

Thanks

I would recommend http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15880

BUT, BUT, BUT this driver can be destroyed sometimes with 14500. (the typical problems with LEDs with LOW Vf )

BUT, BUT, BUT HAS the same problem, this driver can be destroyed sometimes with 14500. (the typical problems with LEDs with LOW Vf )

So, I reccomend a driver for a type of batt you use. Most hybrid drivers has that problem

I made it driect drive. I cutting off a recsistor looks like the rubber thing in this link

Then i added some solder. It became a bright 1 mode.

I was playing with it today and it then reverted back to 5 mode. That did not last that long.

Now it's 1mode.

How did it revert back to 5 mode?

That's the inductor used to step up voltage (ie oscillator). When you take it out, you permanent disabled the voltage boost part of the circuit. The "modes" part of the driver is seperate from the voltage regulation. Try batteries of different levels and see if that matters.

Did the light die because you tried a 14500 or was it dead already?

This may help

Your driver is not the same, but you've taken out the part labeled L in that picture.

I'm not an expert on this, so maybe you can ask Tido who seems to know what he's talking about a bit more.

Yes it worked for a few mintues on 14500 and then died. But my ultrafire M10 1mode works fine.

The Smallsun M10 now is a 6Mode now.

Cannot decide wheather it wants to be a 6mode or 1mode
