My manparts twitch if there’s a knock at the door in case it’s the courier, I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I live on the northern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors (in the UK to our brothers and sisters across the pond) and there are some areas that are completely devoid of ambient light pollution, put it this way, an old Jacob A60 (direct drive) and a Convoy L2 (also direct drive after the driver blew) in these areas of the moors threw a ridiculous distance (I don’t have any figures on these hand cannons……sorry) so I can imagine the throw the TN42 will produce in the same area!!
The waiting is killing me and the twitching is unpleasant now!
That’s awesome, Rob! Just remember that the evening I took those beamshots it was almost a full moon with lots of ambient light after the treeline where the high rise building was. I can’t imagine in a place like you have! Be sure to take beam shots. For batteries I’m a Samsung 25R/30Q guy (have lots of 25R but switching to 30Q with new ones). Right now it’s hard to beat a reliable 20A cell.
I don’t think this light can be further improved in anyway, it’s simply flawless even in the eyes of an modder. Maybe a small current bump, but the performance in stock form is just insane. Really want to get rid of my K70 now.
Look carefully at what you get from Amazon, make sure it’s what you thought you were getting
because they commingle inventory — trusting the label, no matter what the source, to be accurate — from all sources.
So the warehouse picks the next thing out of the bin for your order, regardless of who you think you’re actually buying it from.
That has let a lot of counterfeits be sold through there in the past few years and they’re getting a lot of attention about this practice. https://www.google.com/search?q=amazon+commingled+inventory+wsj
When i claim thrunite that ship the flashlight fast to make a review in spanish flashlight forum, the Thrunite explain to me the they use the logistics of Amazon.
Thanks for the heads up, I’ve recently bought another torch direct from thrunite, I was surprised when a package from amazon turned up, anyway it was the thrunite torch I ordered.
Now the same exact model I bought a while back didn’t come via amazon it was sent by thrunite.
Anyway the one from amazon was a bit of a let down, horrible tint and not quite the same quality as the first.
Was disappointed and just sort of put it to one side and thought o well I’ll just mod it one day.
But now after reading what you put and looking at the link, I’m wondering if it’s a clone/fake
Can’t determine if it’s genuine or not. I’ve emailed Thrunite to ask them if there’s anything I can do to determine it’s authenticity!! But fake or not it’s ridiculously bright.
I was happy with my newly acquired TN42, until I inspected it a bit further, the hotspot is quite mishapen, with a good sized ‘egg shaped’ belt of
corona around it. The AR lens is dirty both sides, and what appears to be metallic remnants from the reflector manufacturing process are on the reflector! One piece (when looking from the side of the beam) glows like a meteor entering earths atmosphere. it’s my first Thrunite purchase, which they assure me is geniune, and I’m somewhat upset.
So it’s gonna have to go back, Unless they send a new reflector, but I’m afraid that the LED may be defective!!!
