I had several problems with a newer M2 host and was directing the issues I had in comparison to the host you used. My issues are in the What Did You Mod Today thread.
Yes the brass ring is tight because there are raised edges on the inside and outside of the ring from machining the tops and bottom after the OD/ID.
That ring does not fit the later M2 even after deburring the edges.

I have met this problems with SS rings in X5 set, 50% of manufactured were defects so I decided to use brass for such parts.
I`m checking all IDs to make sure there is more than 24.0mm to fit carclo quad inside, while external diameter is not so important because (as I thought) all hosts are same and 0.1-0.2mm gap will be enough. I hope all stock glass lens are same size (28.9mm), so I will make 28.6-28.8mm external ring diameter next time.

Lathe machining is made, now I have some problems with milling operator. Rings from brass are ready.

X7 Cu spacers, couple of P60 solid neck Al, couple of P60 solid neck Cu, second batch of M2 quad kits, few of F13 Cu spacers, few of P60 surefire-compatible RR quad drop-ins and S2+ Cu spacers are next to produce, I think this parts will be ready in the mid. of November.
