Romisen RC-N3 Problem, HELP!

I got my new light today, Romisen RC-N3 and opened her up and threw some batteries in (2xAA Eneloop)...One click and nothing...so i opened the tube and smoke came out...WHAT JUST HAPPENED? I pulled the batteries out, let it sit for a few minutes, and then put them back in...and it lights up now, but doesn't seem very bright...what was the smoke from and why???

Light in question

EDIT - just tested current and it's measuring around 1.5A if that helps...

You might have burned up the current limiter, the light might be in direct drive now. I say return the light and get a replacement.

Yep .

Shiningbeam will replace it .

They have replaced two lights for me , an ITP A3 and an ITP A2 that both went bad .

Any other answers? Is something for sure fried? I assume since it started smoking..

Strange, Brian usually test everything before shipping :~

He told me through email that he did test it...so what in the world could have happened?? I know the batteries are fine because i've been using them in another 2xAA light

Fried driver probably. Polarity issue?

Thats what he suggested...i swear i didn't put the batteries in backwards but i guess anything is possible...any way to test and be positive that it's bad before i return it?

Hope your new one works, i have a collection of them but there all Q5's.......

Thanks guys...I sent it back today, he's been a big help :) Will be ordering more from him for sure

Bryan Chen is the man.

Shiningbeam is great never had a problem with any lights and the quality is always above average even great for the price range. NW is almost always on option and he only uses premium tints. He also carries the only NW flood to throw romisen I could find
