Blitzwolf BW-LT5 lantern

Nice, thank you for these pictures. When did you order yours? Waiting for my 2 units and the tracking code doesn’t work… This is an unprotected cell, right?

The cell is unprotected, yes - but I hope that there is a protection circuit on the pcb :stuck_out_tongue:

I ordered on Jan 29th 2016 - but with Priority Direct Mail, which is around twice as fast as the standard shipping to germany.

edit: It delivers 1.2 Amps for my 38% full phone at 5.07V

Nice, thanks for the pictures. So to open it you just pull both ends apart?

I thought the heatsink would be a half moon shape containing the battery, because my non waterproof model in extended operation at high modes does get pretty hot.

unscrew the big nuts, so that the O-Rings aren’t pressurized, and then just pull and twist a bit (no lubrification on the rings)

I want one

Just discovered that link is gone from GB now…

It’s not. My link got damaged because of the BLF update. I fixed it.

What’s the run time?

I did a runtime test with my unit. It shut off after 7 hours and 10 minutes at the high setting. You can turn it on again after it shut off automatically. I got another minute at high until it shut off again. You can do this again and again… At the moment I test how long it takes to charge.

Mine is modded with a Panasonic NCRB and I get close to 11 hours on high, and the amp draw at this level is ~300mA.

I took mine apart and it has another battery than the one L4M4 has. It’s blue and actually says 2600mAh. No brand.

The battery has 4,17V when fully charged.

code 12blitzw gives 10% to 17.99 USD atm

Just saw this,

Preorder for the “pro” version,

Looks like the same thing with a panasonic 3350mah battery,

I ordered one as i was looking at the bw-lt5 normal edition but the pro is cheaper atm

Did anyone try to tear down the BlitzWolf BW-LT5 lantern?
I would like to know how easy it is to replace the 18650 cell.

One pic shows it seems like they solder the battery. Looks quite easy to upgrade to a better battery.

Which image do you mean?

love this light, use it nightly on the low mode. Great light, great price!

In this post

The cell protection circuit is done by “classic” DW01-P IC (U4 in SOT23-6 case near micro USB connector) and dual MOSFET 8205A (U8 in TSSOP-8). The U2 seems to be an USB charging logic for battery, but I cannot found the datasheet.

Logic for driving the LED diodes is U3; microcontroller, which driving buck-smps in CC mode. So bad it’s some of unknown Chinese uC, beacuse I wanted to re-write SW to remove red strobo function and add more white LED current modes.

Just received mine from Banggood Great little light, well built. firs thing i’m going to do with mine is swap out the cool white SMD LEDs with some 4000K or 3500K higher CRI SMDs, or 5 or 6 Nichia 119’s.
