Made From Scratch Brass Millipede EDC (4th annual competition entry)

If there was a prize for the person who farted around the most before getting started on this project it’d be to me for sure. That said, hopefully if I get up early enough tomorrow, don’t take any phone calls, and steer clear of the internet, I will be able to turn this hunk of brass into a flashlight in time.

First the pill.

Now the bezel.

Some body work.

Body and tail are one piece, bored straight through the center for a 14500.

A piece of copper with a button on the inside is pressed into the tail for battery neg contact.

Now that the machining is done its time for the light engine.

I should have the full body shots, and beam pictures ready to go on Monday.

EDIT: 10/31

This is the best I could do for beam shots since its not dark here LOL!

Control

Full spec:

Brass/Copper body
AR coated glass lens over 3x SS optic
3x Cree XPG3 2C on Noctigon
FET driver with Guppy2drv
14500 powered
1800 OTF lumens

Talk about cutting this one close!!!

Thanks again for doing this project everyone.

I been waiting all this time! Don't disappoint me now!

Gotta see this!

No pressure …

Sounds like me, I spent 3 or 4 solid weekends, 16 or 17 hours a day trying to build my light in the contest 2 years ago. Hence my not entering since. Everything takes a lot longer than it seems it should. Good luck.

Will monitor your activity on BLF tomorrow, I expect silence!

Awesome interested and subscribed

do I see 16 emitters?

Ya, you do. But there’s no way I’m getting em in this light. That’s just how many I had in the package LOL!

Some progress added. I will post beam shots and fully assembled light pics on Monday.

Looks great so far, Matt!

Very pretty. I like the copper plug.

Dang, you did all that in less than a day, looks awesome.

Awesome work ! What about a switch ?

Is it going to be a twisty?

Makes me wanta buy a lathe now, damn you……
Looks nice

That light is gorgeous!!

With no driver spring I would guess twisty.

Your machining and finish looks perfect vob. lts good to see you hit the finish line running. I’m looking forward to the assembled pics.

Thanks for the support everyone!! Yes, it’s a twisty….
