4th Annual BLF/OL Scratch Made Light Contest- Hand Made 10/31 finished

Nice work….and a ton of it Rufus!!! Super duper innovative and beautiful even before finished.

Thank You For Sharing All This Work!!! TL

Thanks TL, when I modded a 502b last year with a cherry tube Steve suggested I make one all of wood so this year I went for it. Not quite all wood but a lot more wood anyway.

You’re psyched? I’m falling off the edge of my seat! I would say I love you but no one would understand, but I love your work for sure!

Hell, must be the med mads...

3rd of 4 coats of epoxy done so tomorrow night I’ll polish it up. Dry weight of host only is roughly 106g.

Beautiful Rufus!!! Tell us…me…. About finishing with epoxy. I don’t work with wood much but I am sure curious as to how you do that.

GREAT WORK!!! TL

Have not checked in here for a while - this work is astounding!

Thanks FmC, this is the final build post, it’s all done. :weary:

Some final fitting and glue ups. I trimmed the front end threads to length. Glued 3 trits to the back of the tail cap cabochon. Glued thd switch cabochon into its holder. Also sanded out some scratches in the brass bezel and aluminum fins and polished them. PAfter the cabochons had cured I glued the larger one into the tail cap resting it in a flat surface so it will be sure to tail stand without rocking but still be as far out as possible. With all the parts now ready it’s time to put it all together. And see if it works. All seven modes work perfectly including batt check (Mtn17DD) but I’ll probably switch to 4. I’ll just show moon and turbo since the camera makes the rest look pretty much the same. The wall is actually a pastel green so tint is skewed. At seven feet the hot spot is roughly 7” across which is ok for such a small reflector even though it’s deeper than a p60 the OD is about the same. Size wise it’s a tad longer than an L2M but still has a thinner head so it’s pretty handy, especially with the thumb switch.

+1, very impressive, Nice Job!

I like it. :+1:

Sir, that is a masterpiece! It is absolutely beautiful and I am so glad I got to see it finished. I am happy that I could get to see the end of another BLF contest. May they come every year no matter what.

Simply Beautiful! Thank you

None of those items individually would hold my interest much past “ooooh, shiny”. Together in that beautiful creation you conjured forth from your imagination, it would hold my interest everytime I passed it, if I ever put it down…. Stunning…

Everyone else here has said it all RBD, except, I’ll take it.
It looks if I may say so gorgeous.

Wow! Looks like a masterpiece. Awesome job RBD!!! :+1:

Thanks guys, competition is stiff this year with a lot of outstanding builds so I’m glad you think this is one too. Some numbers in post #3.
