Ehm yeah BIG light + Narsil = side switch (IMHO)

In the tailcap please a clicky for totally off.

Behind the head an electronic switch.

I’ve never had the need for a super thrower, but with this development team…

Whenever there is an interest list, please put me down for one.

Throw please, and lots of it!!

700Kcd with a 2000+ lumen XHP35? - no thanks, I already got the TN42 (680Kcd & 2500 lumen)
300Kcd with a 4000+ lumen XHP70? - no thanks, there’s already lights that to exactly that

1000Kcd + 1400 lumen XP-L HI? YES YES YES

I'm in

Why not 4000+ lumen 1000Kcd?

NOT because a thrower with that much output would blind you to an extend that the throw would be useless.
Throwers that need to light something up, FAR AWAY should have minimum spill and max throw.

This would not be an EDC or even an allround light but a dedicated thrower, outhrowing the TN42.

Just my 2 cents….

But with this big size you would not get so much spill.

I believe that with XHP 35 is best and we get more than 700Kcd

Or take the new Oslon Black Flat Square we tested with 3,5A on a
copper star ~230 cd/mm²

Regards Xandre

Oslon Black Flat might not be a bad idea - with a reflector that big and 230 cd/mm² we could get over 1,5Mcd………with a pencil beam still, fun and reach!

By far the biggest driver of throw will be the reflector size

XPG3 sliced should be a bit smaller die, and a bit larger surface brightness. Or a XPG2 sliced. If not then everybody will mod it with something to gain the most throw. XHP35hi might hit it too. When you make a Giga Thrower throw is the most important characteristic. There are PLENTY of lights available that can throw a bit, for impressively low price. But almost none that can hit 1mcd. Asking for a Giga thrower to have spill is not getting the point of the thrower. You have L6 if you need spill, or any other light. But us throw people do not have throwers. This will be the first of its kind. And perhaps the best if designed correctly. Please save the spill, lumen and other clarifications for other topics “giga flooder” or “giga EDC”. Here mcd should be the one and only point.

The “BLF mcd” sounds good as a name for it

milli-candela? I think that is for another BLF project, which is interesting as well: a sub-lumen light with the right tint and runtime.

But of course the idea is ‘BLF Mcd’, which I find a great name, and also a name to stay focussed on the goal here.

I am in the process of being convinced by the last few mails that throw is the single most important goal of this project. I would like to refine that with maximising throw/volume and throw/weight. I add the last one for myself because there is a tendency on BLF that weight=good, while I totally disagree with that: IMO weight is a necessary evil. (Olight understands that btw)

I mean MCD :person_facepalming:

Yeah MCD!

Subscribed, interested if it's all about throw. I think there is already plenty of lights that has lot of spill or large hotspot.

Just to toss it in the air for a name how about: "BLF FLB", as in Fearsome Long Beam :)

Anyway I think BLF MCD is quite good name too. If it really hit that MCD marker, otherwise I think it's more like exaggerated advertisement. We already have chinese lumens. I do not want to throw advertised in the same way.

I was thinking that the BLF GT was a good name. I agree that Mcd is far better than mcd.

BLF Manning?

It throws a long way and has a huge head

GT? Come on! Everybody names it GT…its not a WV Golf for crying out loud…GT….

How does it sounds BLF X ?

5.5 amps…DDed XPL( or XPL2)…1 mill cds…so sweet….
