Flashlight Host and Uncommon Budget Flashlights

Yes group buy please!

Sort of interested, I have always liked the Nitecore Extreme, but Iā€™m not sure I want it in heavy copper: the copper X5 is also a shelf queen atm.

Do you have a link where to buy the lights in the OP? Couldnā€™t find anythingā€¦

Also interested in link and groupbuy of the last light

I want it

Sipik on steroides

Iā€™m IN!!!

 :+1:

Copper

I did ask BG for this copper light. They replied me that they do not have any plans of re-branding it for now.

RE-branding? As gchart pointed out, it already has our name on it! Either way, a group buy would still be nice!

Anything more on the Tanloo DM40?
also being sold by FT under a different name

I can see zero reasons to safe $10 and choose it in comparation with original EC4 (that have cells in series, buck driver that works well with 6v leds, more modes, two buttons, indicator blinking led in lock mode).

yeh, I was hoping for a well made light with good hardware not a cheap copy. Too bad.

I donā€™t like the big passive drain problem of the EC4. I have one but have to keep a cutdown tailcap plastic button cover over the plus end of one cell, since there arenā€™t enough threads on the tailcap for a physical lockout.

Hoped for a decent long life from 2x parallel, figuring Iā€™d replace the driver (donā€™t like hi-lo-strobe) (if thereā€™s a replacement driver that will work with the switch)
Too bad.

Wow wow wow, does the standard XM-L2 EC4 work with 6V LEDs ?!

Here is a thread somewhere on forum which shows EC4 internals. Driver is same shape as 2-cell contact board, swich board is the separate part.
Anyway youll never find buck driver with electronic switch support and real thermal regulation with external thermistor for less than $10.
Passive drain? Host better fits long cells, just use protected ones and dont worry.

I responded in the fasttech thread. I canā€™t recommend the light because of build quality. I will get a complete review done sometime.

Yes, as most buck drivers can work with leds when Vf is slightly (0.2-0.4v) lower that Vin.
Mine one gives 2Amp to XHP-70.

I have an EC4 on the way and if I can swap the stock emitter for, say, a Nichia 144Aā€¦ THAT would be cool !

My experience differs. The light I got drew down the voltage of good quality new protected cells significantly within a few days.
That means I have to block the circuit or remove the cells until I need the light.

I realize this doesnā€™t worry everyone.
But when I want to grab a flashlight in a hurry after the earthquake stops, it wonā€™t be this one.

I did not know that. Thank you for that very useful information :+1:
