Thermal imaging doesnāt work on glass or other reflective surfaces. It just reflects the temperature as if it was a mirror. If you take a thermal image of a window straight on, you donāt see the temperature of the glass or anything behind it but your own body heat.
Well, but the wooden surface absorbs the light/heat while DC-Fix lets it pass, at least most of it. Iām using DC-Fix āStatic premium transparentā (static means without glue) in a UF13 with MT-G2, powered at about 60 watts maximum, about 3000 lumens. This DC-Fix eats only about 7% of the light (my rough measurement), no problems here up to now.
Thatās good to hear. Iāll try it on some of my angrier lights and report back.
Maybe find a ādisposableā lens to try it on, just in case it does trap heat.
And yeah, I forgot about that tiny detail of thermal imaging and glass. I was really not even thinking about glass. Most lenses in lights that I own are plastic.
It shines through it, not on it, and itās kept cool by the lens too, so i expect no problems.
Alright, I have received the first shipment! Cutting it up now to see how well it works!

Thanks Boaz
That was fast ā¦ 9 days to Greece is crazy
Thanks again Giorgoskok
Wow, i received mine too. Fast shipping! Thanks, works great. Noticing a slight tint change but very subtle.
Yes I still have Dc-fix available . I also have about a dozen 3āx5ā sheets of heavier thickness diffusion material as well.
Splott , Iāll send you a PM

just noticed this as i was about to send you a paypal payment. maybe folks can give me some adviceā¦. im actually putting this on a led ācubeā offroad light that i use for a reverse light on my atv. i currently have a homemade diffuser on thereā¦ basically a cover that i cut a bunch of lines in with a grinder to give it a wider pattern.
all i need is 2ā x 2āā¦ so size isnt an issueā¦ but what would make the beam as floody as possible? and maybe be durable to boot? although ill probably put a clear cover over top of it for protection.
Iāve had some of this stuff for ages, but itās still in the envelope Boaz sent it in. Iāll be building another BMF SRK with 3 x MT-G2s from a cheapo SRK host and will try it out then. A few questions thoughā¦
Does this stuff come off easy? Does it leave any traces that have to be cleaned?
Does this stuff change the tint? Iāll be sticking it on another MT-G2 SRK as I use them for photography, and want one that is more of a fill light so I need itās tint to be the same.
Mike C: itās easy to remove and wow the glass does NOT need cleaning! No tint changes. Wonderful.
One does need a noticeable increase in output, at least for my taste, but this is very subjective.
PM sent. Awaiting payment details
Iāll say it again because it bears worth repeating ā¦
A normal Convoy S2+ at waist height throws a beam where the outer edge hits the floor at 4 1/2 feet in front of you ,
When you add DC-FIX the edge of beam hits the floor 6 inches in front of you instead of 4 1/2 ft.
If it doesnāt take every issue out of your beam ā¦it certainly will take 95% of them .the harder part will be looking for more lights to add it to.
Go buy more lights
