2AA Mini Maglite

Looking through the garage and found one of these relics

Is there anybody out there making decent LED drop in modules for these or is it just the 1W/3W Nite Ize type upgrade available for these? Ideally looking for something like an XML or XPG

That one might be a bit collectable - in its original condition, with the box, someone might offer you a trade (or the price) of a very nice ‘modern’ light.

Edited because I didn’t answer your question : Yes, there are some pop-in conversions, and I’ve done a couple of my own, but they are quite feeble and very cool in tint.

I don’t recall the brand names, they came off Amazon or EBay or somewhere. Not worth the asking price, in my opinion.

Those USA versions are still commonly available, I’ve been considering one myself.

http://asflashlights.com/ does custom stuff for the bigger maglites, maybe they could come up with something for the AA’s.

Yes do check to see if it’s a collectible one first.

The Torch Site in the UK does some drop ins for them, plus you’ll find some on ebay.

Not a lot of money and will make it a usable torch. Just don’t expect it to blow you away. And while the drop-ins are cheap. Just remember that an entire Convoy S2+ in working condition can be bought and shipped to your door for less money……

If it isn’t a valuable Mini Mag, then consider a p60 upgrade. Pretty easy mod and will make it a very useful little torch.

But the vfm (£ performance ratio) is still fairly low. So do it fun, not for money reasons.

Thanks I’ll maybe drop them an email

Thanks I’ll look into the P60 mod. Not looking for something to be mega bright - I’ve got a TK75vn for that

These days, collectible or not, it makes more sense to leave these as Incan. A complete LED flashlight can be purchased cheap enough, these have a good reference for lumens, cri, color temp, focus feature, etc. It’s history, and it’s not going to be anything special as an LED light.

A few members still mod them but nobody’s making a drop in. It’s not hard to make one up with a copper pipe cap, mcpcb, and a 15mm boost driver though s little bit of cutting might be needed.

Don’t expect it to be anything special - just a bit of fun. Might look into what incan bulb I can run with 2x14500

Thanks I’ll have a look into that.
