16340 200mW green laser

Possibly I should have asked about it before buying one. But I didn’t think of it.

Has anyone here purchased one of these or have information beyond what’s on the page about them?

I don’t want to use it for “1000 yard” hunting (what a joke!) but for competitive shooting. My straight line recoil pistol caliber carbine has the sight line high above the bore axis making A zone hits a matter of guesswork when shooting fast. The laser is mounted on the same vertical axis as the bore, but off to the side a bit. The laser strike and rifle bore will be adjusted to never coincide but to always maintain that distance. So I’ll always put the laser an inch to the left of where I want the bullet to strike. Right now I’m thinking that this is for close in targets but I’ll know more after it arrives.

Here’s the link.

They work well, but do suffer from the way the laser module is mounted inside the body and due to the way it needs to adjust and the body being the postive, battery goes in backwards the module is held in place only by two small u shaped bits of metal, they also carry the + to the body of the laser module from the body of the host.
Also the tail cap does not make a good connection, I had to clean it where it makes contact with body, and use alcohol wipes or it wouldn’t work.
I also added some extra u shaped bits of copper in place of the steel ones, that seemed to improve things.
I should add, I didn’t buy from the place you did, but mine looks identical.
To sum up, if it all works good that’s great, but if you have problems send it back. It’s not worth the time spent trying to make it reliable.
With hindsight, that’s what I should have done and then make one or get someone to make me one using a similar sized flashlight that has a proper remote switch option and use that as a host and adding a laser module etc

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds as though it could have been a mistake. Dang! I should have asked before buying! But here in the US we’re limited to 5mW and that just won’t work in bright daylight.

No prob, on the bright side it is very usable in daylight, hopefully it will be ok and yours won’t have the issues mine did

My laser came in today. I trusted the picture on the website thinking that a cell was part of the package. WRONG! So I have proper cells on order.

I forgot about the battery going in backwards, so I tried to get it to fire with a 14500 in the “right” way. Of course it didn’t work. It works fine though with the cell reversed and with a jumper. Yes, it should do what I want in bright daylight and not too far away. Today it’s brightish overcast and I could easily see the dot out at 70 yards. That’s much further away than I want it for.

The rest remains to be seen. I’m deadlined until my 16340s come in. NO I’M NOT! I just got the bright idea to put a primary CR123 in it and it works. So I collimated the laser with the red dot at about 30 yards. That’ll do until I can put some ammo through the gun to sight it in better and to see if it holds zero.
