Well I still can’t decide what I like better in an L2, the dedomed XP-G2 with more lux or the XP-L HI with more lumen and better tint. I’d say the XP-L HI is more practical in use. The sliced XP-E2 is funny and maybe cool to have that kind of reach @ 2,1A, but not practical at all. One day I had a fox lit up maybe 200-300 ft away, I had to hold that light soooo steady just to keep him inside the beam… Dedomed XP-G2 is somewhere in between, but compared to the sliced XP-E2, even the dedomed XP-G2 is so much more practical.
I hear you on the measuring stuff, PD. I don’t like to measure the heck out of my lights, I simply like em or I don’t, don’t care much about numbers.

D01 with xp-g2 should be well over 300kcd. I measured mine at 305kcd and it is running dedomed xml2 u2 driven at ~5A.
I recently ordered Noctigon XP32 boards, would love to see what numbers will D01 give me with dedomed xp-g2, if i find a good one.

What do you guys think of the TM16 numbers? Do you think I need to adjust all of my numbers up, or is the TM16 just under-performing?
pilotdog68:
Nitecore TM16 - 105kcd - Stock (Nitecore rates 122.5kcd)
Solarstorm SP03 - 236kcd - Dedomed XM-L2’s, FET
Courui D01 - 231kcd - Poorly focused dedomed XP-G2, FET
Brinyte B158 - 230kcd - Dedomed XP-G2, FET
Convoy L2 - 130kcd - Low-bin (possibly poorly focused) XP-L HI, FET
Thorfire S70 - 99kcd - Shaved stock XHP-70, resistor mod ~9amps
Jacob A60 - 93kcd - Dedomed XP-G2, dirty lens, FET
EagleEye X6R - 14.4kcd - Dome-on Triple XM-L2, FET
EagleEye X2R - 8.8kcd - Low-bin XP-L HI, FET
Convoy S8 - 6.9kcd - Dedomed XP-L and dedomed XP-G2, frosted narrow optic, FET
Thorfire TG06 - 4.4kcd - Nichia 219c, 2.2amp driver
Olight S15R - 1.8kcd - Warm XM-L2, stock driver.
Pretty close to what I got. 111kcd. The TM16 utilizes direct drive for turbo so it’s heavily dependent on cells.
It might have been over 120 before the limiting voltage thing.

I thought they would be using a fancier driver I guess. I’ll charge them up and try it again too. I need more chargers apparently

Using original (stock) reflector ?

Yes, stock reflector but i might be wrong about the current because it is direct driven, no driver at all, so it might be higher. At the time of the test i had three 25R’’s in it, ive seen that same led pull just over 5A from a single cell, so with 3 in parallel there might be a bit more juice delivered to the led.

My TM16 is making 109.75Kcd, essentially stock… I didn’t change anything on the driver, still has the NW (on the warm side of NW) emitters, but I used 18ga Turnigy leads throughout, in place of the 20ga they used.
So I’d say you’re in the ballpark.
I’m using fresh charged LG HE-2 Button Tops.
Direct Drive for Turbo? Where does that info come from? I see an R010 sense resistor on the driver… mine tests out at a bit over 4100 lumens.

Yeah, tested it, three 25R’s @ 4.19V = 5.7A at the tail, so there it is, it is more than 5A.

Probably misremembered DD.
Max did a really nice write up on the TM16.

With the lumens Nitecore quotes (4000), Turbo is probably like 2.8amps per emitter. It still could be susceptible to a tenth of a volt or two.

My only remaining Courui D01 also uses 25R’s, it’s making 545Kcd with an XP-L HI for 1476.48M throw.
Not liking myself for selling the SBT-70 D01.
(gotta see if I can tweak it for that remaining 436 feet to make a mile. LG HE-4’s will probably do it. )
Edit: Best is actually from Efest 35A’s in this light, at 557.5Kcd for 1493.32M. Still some 381 feet shy of that elusive mile. Oh well.

Lol…you made someone a very happy camper though. You were able to spread your joy elsewhere. My edc has been the X5 since I received it and it probably will be for a long time.

How did you focus your D01 for that throw?
