Nitecore Tm16gt and MH27 over-discharge protection?

Do either of these lights have over-discharge protection? I’ve been running them with ncr18650b but I want to upgrade the tm16gt in particular to Samsung 30q. I would get ncr18650ga protected but they seem to be $$$ compared to 30q, unless someone knows of a deal for some protected ones.

Also any deals for button top 30q?

Thanks

Anyone?

The user manual does not say anything about over discharge protection, so I would assume it doesn’t have it.

If you are looking to use 30Q cells, either make sure you purchase some with the button top, or have some other arrangement to provide one, since the TM16GT has physical polarity protection, and needs button tops (preferably) or their equivalent.

Protected cells work fine, but some users have stated that they get just a little more lumens/throw using IMR/INR cells, which again are hard to find with a button top. Through a mix-up on the group buy, I got flat top cells instead of button tops, and it wasn’t worth the hassle to ship them back to get the right ones. I found some rare earth magnets on IIRC BangGood that stated they were just the right size to use to convert flat tops to button tops, so I ordered them. One of the arguments against magnets is the fear that they will slide under a physical shock and short out the cell. To keep that from happening I purchased some of the terminal top protectors that have a hole for the button top (magnet) and stick to the top of the cell. They work great so I am not concerned about that particular problem.

Thanks for the response. Did you notice an output increase with 30q?

No output increase on the TM16GT with high drain cells, same 2.6A current draw.
