AA Flashlight for Ni-MH!

+1

It is a very nice flashlight, look in this tread for a great price :

I only have one AA torch that I use that actually runs on NiMh. All the others I have run on 14500’s.

Thrunite T10T

I bought it direct from Thrunite and is pretty cheap for a Titanium light. Although I’m sure the aluminium version is just as nice.

Jetbeam jet I ?

Hi there!
Sorry for not answering individually, time has been short these days…
Thank you all for the suggestions so far!!
I confess that the smaller AA (that use single AA) lights are the most attractive and I’ve been more tempted by those! Manker E11 and Thrunite T10T, mostly!
The jetbeam and thrunite, as the manker e11, are the most suitable, as I can use 1 battery while the other is charging (I only have 2 right now).
But I’ll give a look to the other and check it they’re on my budget (up to 30€ ,± USD$30).
ReyLight is gorgeous, but I can’t afford to spend that much on a AA light :zipper_mouth_face:
Specially after meeting Convoy S2+…

Btw,I’ve recently known NKON, and it has really nice things, at good prices and they’re closer than Chinese stores! But thanks for the tip

I thank all of you for answers and if others also have suggestions, feel free to share them!
Until I decide which one to acquire, I’ll be open to new things! And still after that…
Regards!!

Did you check on the mi7? Lots of threads on this forum. Here’s the thread with the coupon. The amazing Klarus Mi7 Ti, G20, OLIVE DRAB/SILVER ready-to-ship, Black, Red, Blue (no-clip) CLOSED again.

Agent80, thanks for the tip!
I’ll take a look into that
I’m a little bites a rookie here, so I’m not used (yet) to these group/coupon threads :money_mouth_face:
I’ll take a look as well! Maybe it will help me to decide what to do (looking just the $$ issues, of course)!
I appreciate your help !!
Thanks and regards :+1:

Trouble with the Mi7 (apart from some design flaws) is, it works so much better on a 14500, that once you’ve done this, you’d never run it on an AA again.

Which, from what I’ve read, is part of the draw of the Manker E11 in comparison. Does pretty darn good on NiMh, about 400 lumens IIRC, but can kick up with a 14500 if desired.
Man I wish my Nitecore EA11 did so well on NiMh….I wouldn’t be considering possibly getting rid of it.

There’s the Olight S1A in neutral white. I think it can take 14500 also.

Hi there people!

Sorry I just answer today, but I’ve been apart from PC!
Thanks, once again, for all the suggestions given!
I searched through all of them and tried to chose the one closest to my “ideal” profile, and adding all the info I guess I’ve done it!

I’m thinking about buying the Manker E11.
It is below 30€, it has a pocket clip and it is “pocketable”, it has nice output even with a AA or Ni-MH battery (so I can use the Ni-MH cells I have and I wont have to necessarily buy a 14500 to have super outputs), and it has different regular and special modes I can use.
It doesn’t have momentary on, but thats just a drop in the ocean…

Given all this, and since Zebralight, Olight, Nitecore, and ReyLight are a little bit out of my budget, Manker E11 seems to be the most suitable for what I need!

Once again, thank you all for sharing your options and knowledge!
Regards to all :+1:

Hi there! First of all, a Happy New Year for all BLF’ers

I’m just passing by to say that I finally received my Manker E11 (bought in AliExpress) and that I’m very happy with it!
I tried it with a Manker 14500 battery (bought along with the flashlight) and with my AA Ni-MH Panasonic Evolta batteries, and I’m really happy with it!
Nice “moon” mode, nice “high” mode (near my Convoy S2+ output), and also a good strooooooobe (that I may use as an extra). The intermediate modes are perfect to use on inside environments or outside dark spaces! Really nice!
The package included a strong pocket clip (it was a bit hard to put it in the flashlight, I guess it scratched a bit), lanyard, extra O-ring and the user manual (I didn’t take a look at it yet to configure modes).

So, I just want to thank for the suggestion to chose this light, and to all other suggestions mentioned above! Also, thanks for all the reviews on this side and on other platforms :+1:

Regards to all!

Awesome that you found a light that you love!

The Utorch UT01 is almost identical to the Manker E11. Uses the same parts, with just some slight alterations to the outside cosmetics. I own both and used them a lot this holiday season during my travels. I am happy with both, go with whichever one costs less. I also used a thorfire TG06. Its a good rear clicky light if you don’t mind starting out on HI every time and visible PWM on low modes. I will probably replace the driver though, the TG06 appears to be a good mod host. Oh one more thing… the TG06 is nothing to get excited about from an NiMH with its modest output. It really screams though with a 14500.

Wait… did you mean TG06 or E11 or something entirely different?

OOps brain fart on my part sorry… I meant the TG06 is nothing to get excited about on a NiMH with its modest output.

MascaratumB, IMO you made an excellent choice! I absolutely love the tiny E11. It will work with any AA form cell, but I use 14500s exclusively (so far) in mine just in case I need the output. I lost my first one, maybe it’ll show up after the plowed snow melts in the spring, but I have a replacement E11 hooked onto my pocket as I write. The clip is a sort of “double acting” clip. It has the obvious easy to use section but above that the clip gets extremely secure if the fabric is forced into it. Since I lost my first E11 I put the pocket fabric all the way to the top. It’s bit harder to pull off, but it also is far more secure. For what it’s worth my first, and lost, E11 was just loose in my pocket. Its so small and light that I never felt it leave the pocket, I don’t feel it clipped on either, but it’s far more secure. I’ve done things where it would have fallen out if it was loose in a pocket and there’s no way it even thought of being insecure by using the entire length of the clip.

x2 on the UT01 and E11… I didn’t realize this at first. You have to clip it on and then pull it out a bit to get the second stage to bite around the fabric. They don’t mention this in any of the literature and reviews.

FYI to everyone… I “think” the factory programmed turbo mode is not actually the brightest setting. If you want the full ~775 Lumens you should double check by programming it manually.

agree nice light

When I pull the clip for the final deep setting it is wanting to start to come off the light. Maybe it will break in and not do this in the future.
I got it on the light without damaging the anodization by using some good old fashioned spit.

Also agree on the Turbo not being wide open in factory settings.
Love this Flashlight!
Just use it with AA Eneloop, bright enough.

I own
Utorch ut01 (CW/NW) and Lumintop ED25(CW) both perform quite well and bright for AA. Price tag is good with some promo code.

Fenix E12 - weak and high price tag

Klarus Mi7 - Not as bright as I expected. easy access to high and low. Good Looking and more modern look.
