What LED to use in the BLF GT Giga Thrower (please read first post before voting)

XP-L2 HI is something I would be interested in if they are released in time and have good test results. As of right now though they are not available.

Unfortunately m8 , so far Hi isnt interesting at all…i am sure you already tested yourself that fact quite many times
Still hoping though……

From a raw performance standpoint the de-domed emitters are better for sure but some of us can’t stand the tint shift. I would much prefer less throw and a tint I can be proud of.

De-domed is still to be discussed but will have to wait until we find a manufacture. Only if the manufacture has had experience de-doming LED’s and is willing to do so again would we be able to consider that.

it aint only about dedoming, i am sure you know whats happening with those warmer tints, high currents and the sillicone near the bond wires…thats an issue that should be definately take under advicement

Yeah, that is why I am not a fan of a de-domed emitter in the production light. Plus it is a fairly simple mod for those that want max throw to do later.

We have not turned down the IM reflector by any means now that we know they could possibly be sourced in china. We have simply not done any further research into it until we have a manufacture as we really need to coordinate with them on the reflector since like you say, it is a major part of the light.

XPH35 3A tint.

>:D

How about slicing?

XHP35HI is “sliced”. That is a very easy process and does not change the tint. So It can be done to a top level XHP35. To gain 10-15% intensity more than XHP35HI,.

This is something we are going to discuss with the manufacture. According to Dale a sliced XHP35 outputs close to 40% more lumens then a HI version. I have an XHP35 here that I plan to test myself once I get the test rig finished.

If the manufacture can handle this, then it will be considered for sure. It would give us a hefty heads up over the TN42.

I WOULD NOT be satisfied with a big ass flashlight that outputs only 1500 lumens just for the sake of a pencil beam that throws 800m. My choice, hands down is the XHP35 LED

Same here.

Why not XQ-E hi, a laser light, LOL

Happy how this is going

I’m all for a good thrower but not if its a pencil beam laser. A 5 foot hotspot at 1000 yards just isn’t practical for me.

XHP35hi (tint/bin to be discussed) for sure! (90 votes)

XHP35hi (tint/bin to be discussed) but I can live with single DIE LED (XPL class) (11 votes)

XPL Hi (XPL2, dedoming, tnt/bin to be discussed) for sure!

XPL Hi (XPL2, dedoming, tnt/bin to be discussed) but I can live with a XHP35hi

XHP35hi
90 + 11 = 101

XPL Hi
5 + 11 = 16

XHP35hi + XPL but can live with XHP35hi
101 + 11 = 112

XPL Hi + XHP35hi but can live with XPL Hi
16 + 11 = 27

Can we call it decided?

Sure! Call it done! :crown:

Is it possible to find XHP35 top bin in 5700 to 6000K, because the CW in TN42 looks so blue,at least on video…

BTW put me on the list, I am starting to save money from today :money_mouth_face:

Tints will be discussed later but it will not be super cool, there will of course be a neutral white option if not the only option. That will be figured out later.

But that adds to the laser beam effect. Also power must not be wasted, even 1% will make a lot of difference.
