Yes, in some lights they charge in series but lets just say that people that use internal charging doesn’t really care about the cells anyways.
I feel the same; however, this is actually the weird part. No doubt you’ve seen plenty of videos where people put different cells in their Skyray King or something; it happens all the time.
So you have unbalanced charging in certain lights, and it is exactly the not so careful people that put different cells in these lights for use and charging without ever taking the batteries out again. And apparently things don’t go sour… Certainly not recommendable, but this is perhaps your view how the dangers of lithium ion are exaggerated? Meaning if you have a set of quality cells from the same batch, it is pretty much impossible that things go wrong in 4S configuration.
Yes, that was exactly my point. Even when abused the cells themselves are actually quite safe now days.
I have even tried shorting them out on purposes (as was documented in the Q8 thread) and there was another thread where a member tried to get them to explode and it was surprisingly hard to do that.
The dangers of brand name 18650 cells is really not all that bad. Don’t short them out, keep them at reasonable temps and keep the voltage between ~2.75 and 4.2V and they will work fine.
HaikeLite, could you please explain very briefly the positives of the different battery configurations you use in this lite?
I mean 4s vs 2S2P. Probably I missed this lesson…

+1 And please at least provide realistic runtimes of the 4S version, how different is the regulation?

My 4S MT07 and MT03 samples are supposed to be shipped out this week via DHL. Based on past experiences with DHL they should arrive before the 27th. I should have enough time to get beamshots of the MT07 vs MT03, as well as Turbo and high run times before the end of the GB.
My set of flattop GA cells is going to be here in time so it just comes down to the shipping.
*One recommendation to HaikeLite*. From my point of view... When you choose the reviewers, please ask them for a minimum of parameters and conditions of presentation. Especially in this case, until now the beamshot is missing and eventually comparing with the competitors. I'm on a click from the purchase and waiting for details ... The next product knock on the door and the lost time for complete advertising/presentation is important. Surely nothing against Tom! He spends a lot of time and effort in R&D in the forum and has a great review, but with a some details missing.
No, I definitely deserve some blame. Thought I'd get to it over the weekend but didn't happen. Another reviewer, mhanlen, I'm sure with beamshots is due in another week or two - see post #212 for his comments.
I rushed my review out in one night basically - first day I got it. Let me see if I can do at least something this evening. We got some rain here, but it's 10%-25% chance here so might be an opportunity. I've done some outdoor use, plus wallshot comparisons, but no pictures.
It's a tighter spill than a L6, but that's expected because of the deeper reflector, and no hash or cross in the center because of the OP. Mine is the CW, so I could compare against a CW L6 if that helps. Also have some dedicated throwers but they are not in the same class as a XHP70 thrower.
Outdoor beamshots are now posted see bottom of the OP in the review here: http://budgetlightforum.com/node/50502, hoping they came out better, but I'll probably be giving it another go the end of this week if the weather cooperates.
I did, however, apply a resistor mod last night (added an R075). Mode outputs on frssh charged set of SANYO GA's are now:
low-low: 56 lumens
low: 610 lumens
mid: 1,570 lumens
hi: 2,530 lumens
turbo: 5,300 lumens @30 secs
Forgot to measure moon, but it's still very low...
LOL! I showed that pic to my girl, and she nearly passed the fuck out! Figured I’d show her that there are guys who have the addiction WAY worse than I do, so she should stop her complaining!
pakarherbal, why do you keep on posting this same message?

SB has had to delete an user account like this the other day. Their new spam tactics are to pick a thread and spam within it, versus starting a new thread that gets deleted immediately.

Ahh, good! I just asked them via a pm if I can convert mine to 4S...
Maukka mentioned he was getting the 4S tailcap and driver.

Thank you Tom!
Really nice mode spacing on the two Haikelites btw…
Man, thats crazy

What I don’t understand is why that spammer keeps on spamming in this same thread.. (I have seen that post here several times now)
