Mystery AAA Zoomie

A friend of mine lent me his cheap but nice flashlight and I kind of like it, he can’t remember where he got it, it came bundled with some tools.

Anyone have seen these being sold rebranded?

I has Snap-on printed on the side, but Snap-on doesn’t sell these flashlights,

Here it is next to a SK68

It has a black clicky:

Does this look like a genuine Cree XML?

It has a nicer and rounder throw when zoomed in than the little SK68.

It eats 3xAAA

It has 3 modes: High-Low-Strobe. Full click is ON-OFF and half click is to switch between modes. Or even a full click switches between modes if pressed repeatedly .

It Doesn’t seem to have any memory but interestingly after I took out the battery pack to take these pics, it reversed and started Strobe-High-Low.
I tried a number of click combination but nothing seemed to work.
By the time I typed this post, it went back to normal H-L-S

This particular SK-68 always starts with Strobe, that is annoying but I guess it is purpose-built for annoying someone from the get go.

Hmm no replys so it will be filed as a mystery unsolved :person_facepalming:

Not familiar with that light, but it looks like a counterfeit XP-E to me. I’d suggest replacing that emitter with a good XP-G2 or good XP-E2 to kick performance up a bit.

Take some pics of the internals, maybe even a driver replacement on order?

This light was just a loaner,

Like it a lot, if I happen to figure out where to buy it, will definitely try to mod it.

Is this it? Snap-on tools LED Flashlight, Focusing Lens, Aluminum Housing

Good catch smithy joe,i still have a snap on mag light i bought over 20 years ago i paid over 50.00 for and over and 175.00 for a streamlined ultra stinger and now these leds are available for much less and better out put.

Yes, it looks just like that, good job. Looks like someone already grabbed it

But it is not a Snap-on, at least they don’t list it. Maybe they are too embarrassed to admit to it.

This light was sold at Costco. It was in a 3-piece set which included a 13-in-1 multi-function tool and a folding knife with a 3 inch blade. I just bought the set, but have not had a chance to play with it. Costco number 708622. There still may be some available at Costco. My Costco was clearing these out, so the price may be better than that shown in the link.

Edit: I see that some of the Amazon merchants also offer this set.

I was about to post that same set. I own that knife and it is one of the best knives I have purchased in awhile. But anyway I found the same set here on YouTube https://youtu.be/Th-JQ3WQA5k

I hope this is of some help.
