4s li-ion, so, the driver will be in buck or boost config? or just a Fet direct drive one
if using 4s and xhp35, i prefer the DD driver, simple but high efficiency
Overall I'd say the quality is very good - no noticeable rings or horizontal marks in the finish as you can see in some reflectors, 2 minor marks/imperfections, big flat surface on the bottom. it's a lot like an over sized HD2010 reflector. The flat bottom on the underside is about 33.5 mm - too big for any stock MCPCB to clear the wire connections, but lots of room to add flat copper extensions outward, so might just do that with using a 20 mm MCPCB, which the recessed cutout in the shelf is made for.
This is actually a clever idea, the carriers could either be keyed so they only go in one way or you could have the 2 carriers each be 2 cells long and half circles. Load one set of 4 batteries in or load 2 sets. It wouldn’t offset the balance as well, but it would simplify the installation of the cells as you wouldn’t have to keep track of which side of the carrier you insert them into.
Either way you would still need to have custom battery holders made…. in which case you should just make them parallel anyway.
Being able to put all 4 at the back is why people want a double long tube in the first place, for balance.
Possibly wouldn’t even need carriers. Bore the battery tube with 2x ~26.5mm wide openings side-by-side. Have a rotating tailcap (Olight x7 style) so the springs stay in the correct place.
Not sure if I’m right but running 4 would be 4s1p,
running 8 you’d have 4s2p???
If you look at the weight of the head you are probably right. With the 3D CAD program it’s possible to calculate the weights of the pieces. The battery weight of one 18650 is between 44 and 48 gram.
That sounds overly complicated for a budget light…
The tube would also need to start as a solid chunk of aluminum rather than just an aluminum tube which is cheaper and easier to finish.
Also, added weight.
Dunno about complicated as such, but yeah I agree on the aluminium thing. It’d take a huge chunk to make each one - but think Courui D01 - they must have been chunks bored out. And their price point isn’t premium
Yes thatBoss1 has a nice beam profile and a scaled up reflector like that would fit the render of ar right?
Didn’t hear back from the reflector software peple, but o course t is holida season in the US so all things like that will probably be taken to next week.
