Cool thank you

Subbed!

Awesome prices on those Xtar chargers. I think I might have to pick up a VC4. Thanks!

Subbed,thanks Calvin.

Thanks Calvin, it is always a pleasure dealing with your shop. Great customer service!

Thanks Calvin - watching the deals…

Calvin: Are you ever going to offer a Nitecore Tip that has been tested to assure of no lockout drain? I’ll be the first in line if you do.

thank you for the announcement and the deals, will be on the lookout

After speaking with Nitecore, there is literally no 100% method for me to confirm a Tip has no lockout drain without locking every one of them out and seeing if they die in 3-4 days. Apparently the red blink is not a guarantee that the unit you received will die early under lockout. If your unit doesn't blink it points to a high likelihood that there isn't a lockout problem. We've been able to sort out the blinking lockout indicators since Nitecore sent us a mixed shipment of them. The only units we have in our inventory with a blink on lockout press is the Red and Gold 5000K TIP CRI.

Sort of a conflicting statement there. Are you saying that just because a supposedly upgraded unit still has red blinky in lockout mode doeesn’t necessarily mean it has a defective lockout problem?

From what Nitecore tells me, there's apparently more than two versions of the Tip floating around now. The original blink, updated blink, and no blink. It's just easier to assume blink has issues. In any case we've already finished identifying the ones with blink issues so barring a new issue of no blink with lockout we'll be fine now.

And with that…I’m blinked out… :weary: Thanks

ETA: I locked mine out yesterday. So guess i’ll find out in 4-5 days. i ain’t touchin it til then.

Picked up another charger I didn’t really need, just because the price was good. I had to really resits buying another VP2 as well. Are the good prices just a special, or is this related to the change in the relationship between XTAR and the former XTAR-Direct? Are you going to remain a dealer for XTAR?

Thanks!

I just received several TIPs from Illumn this past Sunday. I charged them all Sunday night. All 7 had the hole cut in the plastic at the USB port. Of the 7, 5 have no blinking light when put in lock-out mode and 2 will blink with a short red flash when in lock-out mode if any button is pushed. As of tonight, Wednesday, all 5 with no blink while in lock-out mode still register 3 flashes (>50% remaining) when tested by battery check function. The 2 which that display a short red flash while locked out are now registering only 2 flashes (<50% remaining) when tested by battery check function. All lights have been tested nightly by removing lock-out, a brief (3-5 seconds) change to turbo, turned off, then battery check performed.

The 5 good lights are: blue, red, and black TIP and grey, green TIP CRI.
The 2 questionable lights are: silver, gold TIP CRI.

I plan to continue the daily checks for 7 days or until the lights register 1 flash (<10% remaining) when tested by battery check function.

Calvin, you can PM me if you have any questions regarding the lights and my ongoing observations.

Thanks for the sale. Picked up 3 Nitecore headlamps and a couple LA10 CRI lights. I really didn’t need them but quickly found the holiday shopping spirit.

This will be my third order from Illumn.com in the past 3 months. Great deals, fast shipping/service and fortunately does not require a watercraft as part of the delivery chain.

Illumn.com is my go to store for most of my flashlight needs or rather “wants”…Lol

As always they have great prices and the BEST pre and post sales service I have experienced.

Keep up the good work Illumn.com
cheers !

Update:

After approximately 80 hours since fully charging, the 2 which had the short red flash while in lock-out mode when a button was pressed now has a continuous red flash. They are no longer in lock-out mode with no user input to remove the lock-out. A press of the mode button for a battery check results in the single red flash (<10% remaining).

Conclusion:

- 7 TIPs received, all had the cut-out window for the assumed update to fix lock-out battery drain;

- 2 of the 7 had the behavior of a short red flash if a button was pressed while in lock-out mode (which is the behavior originally reported as a possible indicator of the problem);

- after a full charge and checking at approximate 24hr intervals, the 2 questionable lights showed reduced battery levels at the 72hr point (batt check reduced from 3 flashes to 2 flashes;

  • at approx 80hr post fully charging, the 2 questionable lights now indicate 1 flash for batt check (<10% remaining).

I love the little lights, both the normal and CRI versions: looks, output and levels, re-chargability, and did I mention the looks. It is just unfortunate that the possibility to receive a flawed item will exist for a while. I will just need to inconspicuously marked the 2 flawed lights to indicate “no lock-out” without cheesing up the looks. With the possibility of a 3rd variant which is updated yet still demonstrates the blink when locked-out (as reported by Nitecore to Illumn.com) makes it extremely difficult to fully weed-out the faulty lights, especially if merchant inventories are high quantities.

As a consumer, we expect a working product when purchased. Similarly, a merchant expects a working product when procured from a manufacturer for resell. Nitecore did try and fix the issue, but will suffer a second blow to their reputation for flawed attempt in the fix. Best protection for the consumer is to consume from a merchant with a good reputation in handling issues created my manufacturers. In my experience and research, Illumn.com is a safe choice.

thank you Calvin for sharing these deals
