First S2 bin emitters I've seen

4Sevens is taking pre-orders for Quarks with the S2 emitter, to ship November 5. They said Olight will also be getting some. Hopefully these will make it into some budget lights, though 4Sevens says Cree's manufacturing process doesn't create many S2's.

So, S2 is powerfull than R5?

7% brighter/more efficient than the R5 apparently.

Thanks for the heads up, I have always wanted a CR2 light, and I have been eyeing up that CR2 mini for a long time now. The hard to get S2 emitter in there made me make up my mind. Ahhh another flashlight on its way. This is not good lol. I have 4 in the mail on the way now.

Maybe these aren't going to be as rare as I thought. iTP has a Christmas set with a titanium A3 with a XP-G S2 ($135! including a R01 light and solar charger). 4Sevens said Olight had gotten some S2's and I know Olight is the same as some other company, maybe iTP?

Here's hoping. Bring on the latest and brightest!

If the manufacturing is like most semiconductor manufacture, yields of the better bins should improve in a relatively short time.

7% probably isn't a noticeable improvment. I wouldn't get too excited about it.

The usual reckoning is it takes 20% to be noticeable unless you have them side by side. But it does mean greater efficiency which is always nice to have.

Someone on CPF pointed out that the S2 Quarks are 7% brighter and cost 13% more. I went to Going Gear’s store yesterday (something like 200 flashlights on display) and the owner said he has 5 different versions of some of the Quark models.

I find it hard to even imagine such a place - I doubt there is anywhere in the UK that has 50 on display.

Jealous!

It was pretty cool because I've only seen pictures and heard about so many of these lights, including some of the big SST lights that I would never dream of buying. The biggest surprise was the Sunwayman M-series lights which have a forward clicky and a nice magnetic selector ring with different models in whatever battery configuration you want (no AAA). Similar to Jetbeam, but they cost a little less. I came close to getting one to replace the Quark I returned and still may go back. He even had budget lights like some Romisens, all the iTP A3 variations, and a couple of *fires including a Trustfire XP-E F23. About the only thing he is missing is Eagletac and he said he will start carrying those by the end of the year.

I'm jealous too.....must be nice.

Going Gear Store

Look at all them display flashlights and a bunch on the wall too. :(

XP-G S2 has been a long time coming , announced in 2009 for release in Dec 09 to Mar10 .... What happen .. They could not yield many S2's , at least not in commercial quantities .

S2 is still rare , and I await to see if Cree can produce enough of them .
