Is this SSD a fake? Please help...

Hi all,

I was just hoping some of you that know a bit about computer hardware could give me your opinions on this.

It’s legit, the box and SSD look identical to everything else I can find on google.
Are you having issues with it? Can you give more information? I can’t listen to the video rn.

Thanks for chiming in Enderman. Yes, there are several issues with it. Number one its slow. Number 2 samsungs software does NOT recognize it as being a Samsung product. It performs at one half the speed of my 850 EVO. On sams website they claim that the 750 was suppose to come with magician software but this did not. So I am left wandering if this is a very old peice of stock made before magician was developed, or just a fake.

750 EVO should perform very close to the 850 (edit: except on very heavy loads), magician is much older than the 750, did you buy it from a reputable seller ?

Pretty sure the magician software does not come in the box or on the SSD…it is something you download for free from samsung and you install it on your OS drive.

Is this a new or used SSD?
If it was used it’s always possible that the interiors got swapped out but I highly doubt that because the firmware and serial number seem to match with other real 750 SSDs.

I will suggest you go to windows disk management and delete all the partitions that are on the SSD, until there is only “unallocated space” then right click and create a new simple volume.
If you are using the drive for your OS then you will need to clean install, and during the clean install you will get to the screen with partitions and then delete everything and clean install.

Remember to have all drives unplugged except the one you are clean installing to if you need to clean install windows.

It was new. Magician is a disc that comes in the box with samsung SSDs that is designed so that you can make a direct copy of your old hard drive including the OS.

Yeah but you can download it for free http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/750evo.html
Either way, you should not use it because it sucks.
Making copies of drives with operating systems on them is a horrible idea and you should avoid it.
I didn’t even bother installing the magician stuff when I get my 850 Pros.

Did you buy it from Amazon?

Also, there may be only 1 sata III port on your motherboard, (or none) so if you have the 750 plugged into a sata II port it will have half the performance.
