5ar, I am amazed at your talent!! As well as anyone else who can do this stuff.

Thank you for sharing this!!! :+1:

Great designs! I like the latest.

Wow!!!

I am in LOVE with these, I do not see how it could look any better myself!

I like the middle one myself but the far right one is something I could see growing on me if that was what everyone else wanted.

From a purely performance point of view the fins around the switch could be cut a little deeper but that would not effect the looks.

From a modders perspective, if the head screws onto the pill section about flush with the emitter shelf it makes it much easier to work on. If the head is one piece and your’e working “in the hole” then things get exponentially more difficult. Granted, this will have a very large opening, it will also be quite deep… the entire soldering iron will virtually be inside the head.

I am old, I wear bifocals, seeing the fine details from further away is not easy. (OK, I’m not THAT old, but still, seeing the fine details or trying to make the bifocals work isn’t easy working inside a head)

A light like the Courui D01, the Solarforce S2200, the Solarforce M8, these have the head unscrew and show the finned pill section with the emitter and mcpcb right there, very easy to modify. In this scenario, a shelf at the top of the head section for the reflector to rest on gives a fixed base to ensure the reflector is stable and centered.

So I’m still with version 0.4.

What program does 5ar use for the models? Solidworks?

Well, I would think people would use a tripod for that instead of putting it on a table…

Most people don’t necessarily have more than one tripod, if the camera is on the tripod…. bag o beans.

5ar are doing an incredible job!! thumbs up!!
But I did a little “cut and paste” for my self here…and I`ve mixed v.0.4 slightly with v.0.5
Cutted the head juuust above strapholder from version 0.4 and pasted it onto version 0.5

Version 0.45

^ What he said!

If it is like in the picture of the C8, this will not be big at all. It is close to the UF1405 that I have. Lets hope it can throw A LOT better, if that is at all possible.

I like the last render by him. The one at the end of his post hehe

NICE!
V0.5 hands down for me!
Very nice, so cool

Thanks Dale!

I am in for v0.5!
But could we try it with 2mm thin finns and with a distance between the finns of 2,5mm? Thats what i measure on my TN31 and the head finns of the TM15.
So that we come closer to finn design on the left side of the picture

and in this Cross section picture i have cut the last finns a little bit deeper

Apart from that i am absoluty happy with the v0.5!!! :+1:

I Like this version a lot!

Runner up is ver 0.50

Please put me down for one.

Heck, I don’t even like throwers so much, but this is going to be epic.

Very nice. I think the top cut is too deep though. It could be a bottleneck to the heat trying to migrate up the rest of the head. Maybe thicken the wall behind it.

I am with him^, the head needs to screw onto the “body / pill” in order to make modding much simpler.

I do prefer the V.45 a bit better myself, I like that nice sharp line but that seems to be a real sticking point with others so I could give that up in the interest of a balanced design.

If the attachment point/anchor is part of the head is it going to be possible to keep it orientated the way it’s shown in this pic? Shouldn’t the attachment point be located on part of the light that won’t be able to rotate or loosen the head when carried. Isn’t this also the point of all the tuning adjustment if needed?

I am also in depending on price
