I haven’t been to CPF since they started stomping out budget lights many years ago, can’t even remember my user name.
Lol, if this place was like some of the less civilized forums I have visited I can imagine people creating accounts over there to suggest legitimate budget alternatives to their overpriced lights just to see how quickly they get banned. (I am NOT suggesting anyone actually do this though, no need to create unnecessary division even if it seems like it’s warranted)
Wow. While the post and picture made me chuckle I can’t help but feel that is a pathetic bunch of people running that forum. Paranoid that you’re a shill, come on now.
Fellows, as I said in the opening post, I registered much earlier (early 2014) on that forum with the same nick I use here. Some months ago I logged in, without finding any relevant warnings. My account was disabled, though (not even able to edit my profile nor change anything).
Can't remember if I ever made a post there. Maybe, as a n00b, asked or said something “stupid” back then (like how cool is the Ultrafire SK98 flashlight, got one plus a chinese charger and a couple of LG 18650B4 batteries for ≈$20 back then). LoL!
I think considering it a badge of honor is a good idea.
Date you’ll miss them: Never.
Date some people will unsaddle from their very high horse and stop acting like petty dictators: Never.
We’re glad you’re here.
Vinh is the only one who makes it worthwhile to maintain an account there. Granted, he’s the exact opposite of budget, but he’s a good guy and he does really good work.
I still hang out on cpf some. I don’t hate it there, but I only use it for cpf-type stuff. Both of these communities have a place, even though one of them is definitely a lot more friendly and laid back, and honestly just more fun to be here. But sometimes cpf fills a need too.
That said, this afternoon Chrome started labeling it as a known phishing site and blocking connections. And now its “closed” altogether. So I don’t know what’s going on over there but they seem to be having some issues.
