BLF GT Design

actually i like the Design 2 most, it looks tough, the design 1 look smooth and easily slipping. The weight of the flashlight will makes it become nightmare

They are all too low. I have brought this up in the GT thread, and I was told that, even though they are technically useless, they won’t be moved or added to. I can’t live with a ‘technically incorrect’ light so I had to vote against it.
The design looks purposeful, but I was a fan of 5ar’s from day one.

Sure they could get moved, this is just a planning stage of what the general style will be.
I can guarantee you it will not end up looking exactly like any of these designs.

Also, they are not useless, just because fins are not directly beside the heat source does not mean they are useless.
Heat is conducted through aluminum, go look at the heat maps done on the light.

Since my vote of design 4 makes no difference I voted for design 5 which was my first choice.

Voted for 3 like 1 as well. Can believe 3 is not getting more love! Whatever is decided she will be beautiful on the inside. Lol

For how much time will the voting going to be open? Design 1 and 2 are neck to neck…!!!

If they are this close, I don’t think we will make a concrete decision yet.
Saying “this one won by 2 votes so this is what everyone gets” would not be very nice…
I think all the designs can be improved, and if anything we should get more information on which is cheaper/easier to manufacture, has more features, tweak the renders a little, etc…
And then do a repoll in a few weeks/months with only the top two designs.

I like design number 1 the most, the “danish dynamite”

Voted for 1, but indeed needs some knurling on the handle to make it perfect.

Ummm no - I was told unequivocally that the fins won’t be changed. And maybe I used “useless” a bit loosely, but in my opinion if they are going to be there they may as well straddle the hottest area, rather than flail underneath :weary:

I don’t think it needs more knurling, it’s got a baseball bat nub on the end. If Yoenis can hang on to this bat without letting it fly into the seats, we could certainly hang onto a friggin flashlight

Where? I don’t see any posts from you in the recent two pages?
Is this from farther back?

Big congratulation to all the designers, amazing work guys !!

I voted for design no1 because I think it has something very “special”, proportions are so beautifully balanced …
And it doesn’t remind me of any other flashlights.
I also agree that a few tweaks could be made, especially around the fin area.

+1 or really I mean –1
I’ll pull out as well if either of them win

Further back. Conversation regarding fins starts at post #2004.

Lol! If not friction tape is cheap.

Love design 2, but can’t vote, guessing the poll is finished?

Moin Moin
Design 1 Rocks!!!
Thanks to everyone for their invested work.

Jens

Hi,

To be honest, I didn’t have an intention of changing it, but throughout the last few days several people commented on those fins. Consequently it would be fair to change it or at least give it a try. I just didn’t want to do it before the poll since it took me a bit to get a harmonious design there. I also don’t think it would change the overall design the much so you still get a good impression of what the light would be like. But they certainly are not useless

The overall weight at Design 1 is a little higher, however, the head is a little lighter (judging from the cross sectional views).

Again, the details aren’t really figured out yet. The red should just symbolise an illuminated switch. But if people don’t want it, then it’ll just be stainless steel. It for sure won’t be red plastic

True! It’s very exciting. Do you actually want to host another poll with only those two options if it’s that close? Either way, both designs deserve a individual project, so maybe we can use the design which doesn’t win here and create another light with it (triple or single XHP70 for example) in half a year or so (We also don’t want to draw buyers away from this project).
