Low-cost copper pills, spacers, optics, drop-ins (Updated 23/10/2022))

Much thanks.
I have found much more simple solution for liner so 15.6 dimention is not needed.
It is not very fast to type from mobile, please read upd.2 here:

Kenjii, you need to improve your datasheet reading skills. There is just 29kd/lm for xpl there. 150 should be right number for XQ-E Hi.

Are 20mm quad cutter boards in stock ? Or will in the future ?

I can found one for you.
Well, I dont know how to deal with them. Australian company is ordering boards in China. Then Richard from MTE orders them from Australia. Then I order boards from MTE and because he dont offer direct shipping to Russia Im using post transfer servise with virtual adress in the US (I can combine several orders and then they are making shipment). If Im lucky and my package passes through the customs I will get them for twice cutters price.
And…after all I have lots orders and more than half of them goes back to the US and even Australia.
In fact I hate cutters design, I hate solder them by myself.
We need to organize 20mm quads production. Technology does not change with led dimentions and quantity, board self-cost depends only from its size and material. 20mm boards should not be more expensive that noctigon xp20 or xm20.

There was a company on here a few months back offering small batches of custom MCPCB’s for a good price. Djozz ordered the custom 144A MCPCB’s from them for around $2 each IIRC, he had to buy 150? of them I think. Might be worth looking into.

I think minimum order quantity for quad boards was 250pcs , to cover design fees (something like that).

What kind of spacer is needed for the M2 quad? I’m interested in making one or two myself.

Check number 9. @ the OP

Oops, should have checked there first! Thanks

Guys, need some advice from you.
Most popular parts (that were known for years and was produced long time before I started), such as S2+ spacers and pills and X6 spacers, their hosts have very limited place inside so parts top have same OD to the MCPCB size.
After Ive tried to solder copper pcb to such plane spacer with solder paste I have realized that pcb goes to the size and it is not very simple to center it.
So, next kits such as X5, M2 (M1) were made with little improvement, hosts have some spare place inside (spacers OD is bigger than MCPCB size), so they were made with rim over pcb plane to center pcb perfectly.
Is there any need in such rim? It makes soldering more easy (Ive seen when smb have soldered parts with bolt inside cental hole :open_mouth: ), but if you dont solder parts and use thermal grease you may want to have ideal finished surface, and this is hundred times harder for such lowered shelfs.
So, what would you prefer?

  1. Spacers with pcb centering rim with current surface finish (you can find photos in this thread)
  2. Spacers with plane pcb shelf with better surface finish (#120 sanding belt)
For this moment your suggests will influence on C8 triple spacer design, but I will also consider them for the other parts.

I vote option 1, I am not super picky about the surface finish myself. as the host will still overheat in a min or 2 with or without a perfect finish in the lights I build lol.

  1. me too .

I use fine sandpaper and spacer is ready in 20 seconds .

Hi,

bad conditions. A construction trailer blocked my beamshot location and my tripod broke one leg.

Very nice, that M2 is a nice flooder and the X7 is really nice overall beam. The tir is a nice trade off of spill for hotspot size as well. Thanks!

What are the options for optics and MCPCB’s for the X6? Just the 32mm triple and Ledil Cute-3? Or are there other options as well?

Multi-leds:
Cute-3
Cute-4
GT-3 (can fit xp32 too if I not mistaken)
GT-4
Angie (quad that will throw better than Cute-4SS, unfortunately they have different leds disposition)
Khatod also have some 35mm triple tirs, but for my opinion they are more flood than Cute-3M.
In fact this size (35x15mm) is MR11 standart, there are many chinese manufacures that are making tons of them for home spot lights.
As for single leds, you can put any tir that will fit inside if you will use proper spacer.
For example, I have some ledlink ultra narrow beam tirs (35mm od, 20.8mm height). To avoid datasheet misunderstanding, I will leave here actual specifications:
XP-E2: 4° FWHM, 95.4 cd/lm
XP-L HI: 6.0° FWHM, 47.5 cd/lm
XHP35 HI: 6.9° FWHM, 34.4 cd/lm
XHP35 HD: 9.7° FWHM, 18.9 cd/lm
XM-L: 9.0° FWHM, 22.4 cd/lm

Would like 2 P60 surefire drop ins
