automatic Chg>dChg on Imax B6

The Imax B6 has a setting for the wait time between Charge and Discharge. It is defaulted to 10 minutes. But I can’t find anywhere in the manual where it tells me how to make it automatically top off a battery, wait 10 minutes, then do a discharge. It must do it because the setting is there. There are 10 customizable programs, but I can’t seem to manage to do anything useful with them at all. Anyone with some experience on this out there?

which firmware are you running? custom? standard? real device or clone? there are too many versions and variants of the imax out there.

It’s factory firmware on a genuine iMax version2. I can’t check the factory firmware number right now, it’s running a discharge.

I have a B6 and a Turnigy Accucell 6. I think they have the same main board inside basically. Looking to see if I can answer the question

Ok, as best as I can tell, you can do this the following way……(this is with NiMh batteries, not sure about others)
This is directly from the Unit (not for the software on a PC)

1). Select BATT/PROGRAM - NiMh BATT
2). Press Start
3). Press the right arrow key until you see NiMh CYCLE
4). Press Start
5). Choose DCGH>CHG or press right arrow key to choose CHG>DCHG
6). Press start
7). Select number of cycles
8). Hold down START button to begin

The pause time between each charge and discharge is set in the SYSTEM SETTINGS (not for each program, unfortunately)

If you’re using the Chargemaster software on the PC the process is about the same.

Go to the programs and set up all the parameters and select CYCLE, then the charge and discharge currents, number of cells and cycle count.

For some battery types, there is no option (probably for safety reasons) to do auto cycling.

Well I don’t own any NiMH batteries, so that explains how it hid from me. I confirmed you are correct, it is an option when the NiMH chemistry is chosen, just not the LiIon. That sucks.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But I guess they don’t want the liability of folks putting “dangerous” batteries on auto cycle then heading out for the day.

I have a bunch of pretty big LiPo’s for my DJI Phantom drones and if one of those ever went nuclear it would be really ugly.
One is 52,000mAh @ 10C….(and they get MUCH bigger than that)
