Nichia 219C D260 9050 90+ CRI Emitter output test by Texas_Ace

I keep meaning to but have not had the time. Now I am almost out of LED’s so not sure if I will be able to till the next shipment arrives.

+1, thank you TA!

My first triple is in the works. Stacked a 105D yesterday for ~ 5.4 A.

Tuesday I have time for building a triple, but it will be with the sm353.

Remember, the manufactures reccomedations for max current are all base on non DTP attachments. Sure, we overdrive them beyond what they might be rated at even if they were spec’d on DTP copper but we couldn’t achieve what we do if those specs were absolutes.

Yup, and I love it in a trip. I used 20 awg wires and removed tail bypass to get it down to 11.55 amps. It started at over 16, to much for a titanium host.

Waiting for drivers here, but will soon do a triple 219C 4000K in a Convoy S2+
I’ll be using 16x 7135.

Well, I went for 16x AMC7135 now. But I don’t know if I’ll leave it that way, this drivers gets freaking hot. No wonder though, about 5W or more getting dissipated. Have to do some more testing. Not a good idea to use high drain 18650’s, obviously…

Where are you getting the high 7135 count drivers? Mountain Electronics?

I stacked a Nanjg 105D with 8 additional chips.

They need their cooling too.
But when the battery lowers towards Vf of the LED (s) they won’t get hot anymore.

yup, I tested with fully charged LG HE4, not what I’ll be using in the finished light. Will use a protected 3500mAh cell, so the excess voltage won’t be that high.

Hmm… then the battery will get warmer due to its internal resistance…
So what’s worse?

The modern 3500mAh cells should have no problem with that current. I think it’s better the whole cell gets warm a bit from within than having the driver in front of it running hot over 90°C.

Comparison with the 219C D320 5000k 70CRI emitter:

Thanks for the comparison chart!

Just to clarify, this is a D240 bin against the D320?
Chart mentions D240 but Thread title says D260?

I assume it’s the D240 as that is what clemence had gotten. :+1:

EDIT: according to the output numbers at 1A and 1.5A the D320 acts more like a D300 bin.

I am not sure which one the 90CRI are binned as technically to be honest.

Seeing as the D320 came up very close to spec (slightly under 320 lumens at 700ma) and the 90cri came up closer to D260 (a bit over 260 lumens @ 700ma), I am thinking they are either D260 or very high binned D240’s.

IIRC Ray said his 4000k 90CRI emitters were D260 so they do exist.

Just ordered 2 219C 80CRI leds from mountain electronics.
Are these 90CRI versions available somewhere?

Rey (WWEFANS) had a full reel of 90CRI 4000K 219C leds and sold them via PM, but I believe he is sold out atm. Then there is a sale thread by clemence for several types of 90 CRI 219C’s, round 1 and round 2 is finished, but there will be a new round (and new thread) one of these days.

I tried to buy some more of them from Rey a couple days ago and got the bad news (sold out).

They’re really nice and I want to put them in everything it seems…

Why not order from KD

On triple they are cheaper
