TrustFire TR-J12 5*CREE XML T6 from DX MF and KD

good info thanks

The Fryray 3800 had a boost 1.5A driver, but we all know how well that worked out. :p Thanks for teaching me something today, guys.

I'm still excited to get the J12. :)

When there are 6 x XM-Ls in the market, give me a call and i'll shoe-horn 2 x DRY drivers in there and 6 IMRs into the tube and then take cover....thanks!

Seriously the modders have done it like the beginning of the year with even 6 emitters, how to drive 5 x XM-L with drivers properly right to the limit? (no DD pls)

<coughwatchspendingcough> LOL

I have a question ergotelis i thought we could not mix xm-l and sst drivers with diffrent emitters due to some thing to do with vf and voltage, i read it on here some where i tryed to find the thread with now joy.

So tr-3t6 has a sst-50 driver in it and they emitters are in pallel why cant we retro fit a sst-90 12 volt 9 amp driver and bump up the otf and depending on the screw-in drop-in for fix set up for the TR-j12 we could do the same.

p,s i have not looked up the sst90 data sheets

Me to but its the most costly light ive brought sofar and i know i dont need it lols

Ahh....so i guess can mod as parallel. Squeeze 1 SST-90 driver in there to drive 3 XM-Ls and 1 SST-50 driver in there to drive the remaining 2. The SST-50 driver must be able to take 12V though. But i guess high chance there is no space.

Yeah, i am excited too! It seems to be quite a good design for a "cheap" powerful flashlight!

No worries about the vF, the drivers are current regulated, for example, you can put two xm-l into series and the vf will be 6,7V and the amp still 4,7amp( i am not sure this driver will allow this, but i am guessing it will)

Swaping a 9amp driver is what i would like to do too! Of course it is possible as long as it fits! THough these drivers are still expensive enough, possibly a small mod in the existing driver might do the job to boost for a while the amperage.

Ordered a UCL lens too, i believe that this 72,7mm might fit. If not, i will trim it for my trustfire x6.

But to be sure, we have to wait for product to arrive, to open it and check it!

More high-res pictures at lightmalls. You can email them to specifically pick a copy that is flawless for you. They did that for my Uniquefire 3900, which really was literally flawless. I also asked the Aliexpress shop to do that for me, lets see if that is really true.

You can see the plastic disc and battery nipple for the head. Not a PCB and no sign of a spring. So that's a good sign, most probably not a drop-in!

I asked Ric (from cnqualitygoods) yesterday why he wasn"t selling the light..

Checked his website today and Tadaa:

Reading this and the fact that Ric is planning a groupbuy for the DRY.. maybe he could do both ;)

ps, POK the link in your first post to the manafont website is wrong. It leads to a different light!

After a prompt conversation with the seller, asking if I needed batteries and stating protected batteries would be a must for this light I were more than happy with my choice. And after that my order from Aliexpress was dispatched in one day and with HongKong post as I requested. The tracking number was also sent with the shipping notification. I am now looking forward to getting this light in my hands.

Got myself protected Trustfre 26650 also. Thanks for the heads up guys. I guess I can stack a couple of King Kongs with one Protected Trustfire and get a decent short circuit protection, right? Though, nobody confirmed the cutting current of these protected 26650s yet.

I guess 1 Trustfire 26650 with protection does protect your other 1 or 2 unprotected cells like king kong in a dead short by a malfunctioning driver (worst case scenario). However still not recommended as the discharge would be mismatched, though i fail to see how the king kongs with so much capacity and current capability would be stressed. Not for the faint-hearted or those non-technically inclined.

3pcs of good 18650 like XTAR 2600s (nearly 2500mAh measured for cycled cells) are good enough and the slightly fatter tube does make the proportions better and more balanced, and very slightly enhances heat disspation as well compared to a 2 cell thin tubed flashlight designed for 18650s.

Of course. I’m just trying to minimize the risk while trying to keep my new King Kongs in circuit. I guess Trustfire’s would drop earlier so wouldn’t stress KingKongs with low voltage. Both were measured above 4000Mah while TFs are said to be more like 4000 and KKs 4500.

Ok, I'm in. My new years resolution for 2012 is to only buy neutral/warm, non blinky, 3-mode lights. So I figured I better get one more unrestrained purchase in before the big blinky ball descends.

I just wish Manafont carried 26650s.

Thanks for the info, again. :) Let's assume I have 2 protected and one unprotected cells. Where to put that naked (unprotected) cell? Place 1,2, or 3 counting from head.

I have two 4sevens protected cells, interestingly 3900 and 4000 mAh, I hope that does not matter.

Hi guys!

This is not the same flashlight? it is cheaper (it costs 70 dollars)

wow only 70$ from dx

It must be the same. Many sites have wrong battery configuration, it does not take 3 26650 cells. Right?

EDIT//

Doh. Yes it does. Only DX states 2x26650

EDIT//

POK, correct link to DX:

Or the manual has error. Hehe.

Sorry, BT-QS66 I will prepare to order too hehehe lol.

OMG, dx has much lower price than all! I ordered from kd, then it came from mf, now from dx! At least the kd shipped fast, dx would ship in one month. But damn, i lost 19 dollars!
