A busy day off modding for me, i also received the Klarus Mi7 titanium version, very nice light but the switch is too easily unintentionally activated and using the electronic lockout all the time is a hassle so i set about a mild fix for this by shortening the switch post by filing some from the bottom until there is just enough material to hold the spring clip in place, i took up the extra space by installing a small washer inside the light so now the switch does not protrude from the flashlight body.
It is still very easy to operate but less prone to AA.
Also upgraded were the driver wires, spring bypass, magnetic tail and various aesthetics.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the copper MCPCB to be direct thermal path, this of course was tested after i had sanded down a noctigon to the correct size…
I decided to use the stock one to save further work on this. The head also has a nice screw in reflector The glue throughout was not formidable.

Is there any difference between between the titanium and the standard version except of course the materials used for the body?
Thanks for this, I might do this with my standard version.
Idiot proofing something only creates improved idiots.
I only got the Ti version but would imagine they’re the same if not very similar.
Have a look at this Thread – X3 – has some teardown pics.

pray tell what the green is? Was your light tarred and feathered? Nice contrast with the green and the dark. If the green is some kind of paint I would like to do it in yellow on my black Mi7.
that’s a nice looker!
Thanks mate, the green is glow in the dark powder mixed with resin, didn’t get it quite as good as i had hoped so may redo it but yeah it’s something a bit different for me to try. The stuff round the LED is GITD sticky tape. I was also thinking a small trit in each of those grooves either side of the switch would be good but none left just now.

Thanks for getting me a good price on the light

No problem…when mine arrives, I will re-visit this thread and perhaps will be my first foray into a little modding.
I know how much of hassle it is to lock-out each and every time…or I will just use the bigger holster of my EA11 to avoid accidental turn-on.
Very nice, CRX. Love your mods. What size trit did you use? Did you have to machine the switch any, or did you just use the existing recess?
Thanks very much, it is a 6mm x 1.5mm vial covered with UV glue.
I had to dremmel a groove out of the switch to have it recessed, it was a real pain to do but turned out ok.The black stuff in the cutouts is JB Weld. I wasn’t happy with the GITD stuff.

Very cool mod CRX!
I wish I could do it on mine Olive Mi7, but I’m still a (not that skilled) newbie.
Not a flashaholic... I hope!

Thanks mate, maybe one or two 6mm x 0.65mm trits with some uv glue would go nicely in the existing groove, just a thought.

Thanks for the tip Stevi
, but I’m affraid I’ll just screw it up if I try to do such a mod. My fingers are anything but small/steady and I’ve never been good at glueing (and dealing with) very small parts.

I really prefer this version ! The trit embedded in the switch is really smart !

Very nice mod. I love what you did with the switch.
Can you recommend a source for the Trits? My olive green Mi7 needs some bling.
Thanks,
Bob

Thanks mate, FastTech has some tritium options

Thanks for the recommendation. They have a huge selection.
When you say “existing groove” you are referring to the four existing that are parallel to the switch correct?
Thanks,
Bob

Yeah that was my original idea, I had ordered two 6mm x 1.5mm vials but they were too wide to sit in the grooves at either side so I decided to dremmel out the actual switch to make one fit.
I also thought one or two of the 6mm x 0.65mm trits could sit in the existing switch groove and be covered by a dome of UV glue but they would probably be better in the slots each side of the switch as it protrudes enough already.

Perfect. That’s what I was thinking and what my measurements said but I just wanted to double check.
Thanks for the quick response.

Is the head of your titanium MI7 glued?
Not any more
- LEDs & Other Stuff - - UI CheatSheets - - CRX Flashlight Builds - - CRX Stuff for Sale -
Was heat required or just some bicycle inner tube and some leverage required.
It is an awesome EDC light but I think wasn’t in my pocket for 30 seconds before it found it on due to that protruding switch.
Thanks,
Bob

The glue was not that strong, I ran the light hot on a 14500 and twisted the bezel off using a piece of rubber to grip.
The driver is also glued but come out fairly easy on this one.
Did you get any trits yet?
