Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

DCH what site do you use to print upc’s

I linked to this site earlier in this thread. I know this is an impossibly long thread and it is buried. Here it is again.

HD and most other US and Canadian stores use UPC-A, the default setting. Make sure you enter 12 digits.
After I generate the UPC, I visually check the first few bars and the last few, to make sure the correct UPC was generated.

Gotcha, thanks. I looked for it before and could not locate it.

I'll add a link to the above post in the OP.

Good idea!

As you read this, some may think I should be ashamed of myself. Maybe I should. But on Black Friday I spent over $2000 at Home Depot. I’m more ashamed of THAT than I am with what follows.

Here is another item worth looking for, a chance to score a really good deal.
For some time now, HD has had these 4000mAh “Pocket Juice” power banks. the price was $14.97 and they can be found in electrical with all the CenTECH CE Tech (thanks poiihy) branded electronics and connectors.

On Black Friday, they brought out a separate and special display of these and put it on the floor with all the other special BF offerings. There was special pricing of those at $9.88, a nice price! I never got a shot of the display as most stores sold thru in the first day or 2! On BF I was in a HD with a friend late in the day and when he came across the display he bought the remaining 7 that were left. He knows I travel a lot and asked me to keep my eyes open for “as many as I can get”
They were scarce, it wasn’t until about 3 weeks ago that I finally found one and it rang up for $9.88.
Then 2 weeks ago I came across 2 more, but now they were on clearance priced at $7.50.

So I grabbed those 2 and went up to the customer service desk. I told them I bought 1 of these last week for $9.88 and now they are $7.50, and if they would please refund the difference to my card. As I explained earlier, what they actually do is give full credit for the original purchase, then allow you to buy it back at the sale price. So I did that and while I was at it, I bought the other 2. Now I have a total of 3, each costing me $7.50
Now, it REALLY gets interesting.
A couple of days ago I traveled north to an HD I thought might have the 24 packs of EcoSmart bulbs for a penny. I struck out on that, but I did find this.

WOW!
Now they are down to $4.90. Sooooooooooooo……. I brought the 4 that I found up to the Customer Service Desk and asked, well you already know
So now I have those 4, plus the 3 from before for a total of 7, all bought at $4.90 each.
Now here is a little secret. When I got those last 4, one of them rang up for $14.97. At first I couldn’t figure out what happened and why one was more. They looked IDENTICAL in every way, except for the UPC code.

The ONLY difference is the UPC code on the back

The one on the left rang up for $14.97, the one on the right, $4.90. Even so, the service desk gave it to me for the $4.90.
Now the best part!!!
Only another 5 miles to the next HD, just over the State line. So I go, still trying to score a 24 pack of light bulbs. I struck out on that, but I did fine 1 more Pocket Juice power bank. By now I know which UPC code is to “good” one.
I look for the numbers at the end, “551” and that lonely power bank had the good number!
Massachusetts stores have price scanners in their isles, so I walked it over to make sure it would scan at $4.90.
I was shocked!

$2.40!!!
So, I took that one over the Customer Service and told them recently  I had bought 7 of these at $4.90 and now they were $2.40 and would they……………………
They did.
And BTW it wasn’t until yesterday that I realized they forgot to charge me for the 8th one, I got that one free.

Today I was in my local HD and found a 9th one, it rang up for $2.40. It was mixed in with the regular stock of the ones that ring up for $14.97. Once again, they look identical, except for the UPC code.
I took pictures of each at the self checkout.
$14.97 “4K POCKERJUI”

$2.40 “BF 4000 MAH” (I take it “BF” stands for Black Friday)

In a very short while these will be pulled and marked at a penny.
Look for them, there will be some because they are hard for the MET team to spot and pull.

Nice. What a deal. All those packs for less than $2.40/each (factoring in the free one). Was the $2K spent on those tool chests? If it was, it seems like 2K well spent.

huh i was just thinking about power banks today

It’s CE tech; Centech is the harbor freight brand.

You are right
It’s an obvious attempt to confuse the public with the highly regarded Harbor Freight “brand” CenTech.

It fooled me.

Yes, it was a desperate attempt to get myself organized, tool wise.

BTW, that power bank went from the special BF price of $9.88 to
approx 25% off, $7.50 to
approx 50% off, $4.90 to
approx 75% off, $2.40.

The bucket of bulbs did the same thing, original price of $19.98 to
approx 25% off, $15.00 to
approx 50% off, $9.90 to
approx 75% off, $4.90.

It seems ALL of the special BF items have followed. Be on the lookout for any and all BF event stuff.
Here are some more that I saw.

and even that hand truck that I scored was approx 75% off. It too was a BF special buy
Originally it was $26.88
At some point it must have been approx 25% off. I got it at $6.70 which is about 75% off

before that it was about 50% off at $14.04. I found this sticker on the back side the day I bought it.

Today’s score

That is unbelievable :money_mouth_face:
Did you enter the survey to win $5000?

These gardening picks are a penny, there’s about 20 of them in one store that were missed. Brought 1 up to check it but didn’t grab the rest. May go back n grab em later, just don’t see why I’d need 20 gardening picks, lol.

!!

ConBRADulations! You really “nailed” it

Thanks for leaving some for me.

Yesterday I went up into Massachusetts to visit my brother. Of course I stopped at the 2 HD’s on the way.

At the first one I saw this electric PowerShot Pro Stapler and brad nailer at 75% off and at the 3 price, so I bought it. There was only 1

I also saw these GU10 mini spotlights, they rang up for a penny.

And that first store had these, I hadn’t seen them on sale up until now, at least I never noticed.

At the second store I ran into more of the PowerShots, a little cheaper though, $7.03 instead of $7.53 and they had plenty.
I passed, I will keep an eye out for these though.

An other deal I saw. “Semi Automatic”

And a penny deal, there were 6 mini florescent under counter lights and 7 power cords for the JUNO under counter lights

I gave all the under counter lights to my brother.

9/30 stuff is a penny I got an alarm to protect all my penny gear in my shop
!!

This is funny. Penny SKU just hanging out, guess they didn’t feel like throwing them away. I didn’t buy the bulbs, don’t need em.
!!
!!

By the way that dewalt bit kit is left over BF that’s a great deal, cheaper than the 30 piece set they have displayed on sale now. Plus the bits are actually pretty good and impact rated.

3 months ago I posted this about a score of 3 in 1 phone charging cables. They were a penny, but they were mixed in with their replacement, a 2 in 1 that excluded the old obsolete iPhone connector. Because the packages look so similar they were missed when it was time to pull them. Also the newer replacement looked so much like the old one that they mistakenly got placed in the Clearance bin even though they weren’t on clearance,

Well now, 3 months later they ARE on clearance and today I scored one for a penny.

I still don’t understand how to get something for a penny. I’ve read it a number of times. Do all stores do this? Are store managers aware of this? How do you know what is a penny? Anyway, can’t figure it out.

Simply put, anything that goes on clearance, has a yellow sticker with a date on it will probably go to a penny. Right now, anything with a date 10/1/2016 has a good chance of being a penny. To actually buy it you should go thru self checkout. You probably won’t be allowed to buy it thru a cashier. The self checkout terminals have a price check function so that you can first verify what the price will be. You need to scan the UPC code, NOT the yellow sticker. Scanning the yellow sticker usually causes the checkout to lockup.

Yes, all stores do it, everybody is aware of it.

That is simply put, YMMV

Ok. I’m going to give this a go again:)

!!

Those Phillips bulbs you posted DCH are still 9 something 6 but they did end in 00 so I guess they decided to start them on their way to a penny. Which makes it hard to track because the date is so old.
