Another one! When will people freaking learn?

No one will ban cars, governments will ban lithium ion batteries

In the video there’s a puff of dark smoke followed by a bright flash.
Looks like afuel-air explosion

“gas is explosive, let’s ban it” said nobody ever.

Perhaps a safer chemistry will make things better for vapers.

Well, I think they already knew the dangers of using regular tobacco. I still consider vaping might be safer even with occasional explosion

The li ion restrictions already in place from airplanes and shipping are not just for show

Yes, and fyi you’re also not allowed to take gas, fireworks, knives, explosives, guns, and a few other things on planes.
Just because it’s dangerous and restricted does not mean it will be banned.

Well, who knows what mech mod did he used…we digital smokers do some wierd stuuf in order to make our smoking better

Personaly, i do own 4 different devices ( and like 10+ atomizers) and i always try myself not to push the battery tha hard, since i am an MLT i use them at 5-6 amps tops, using Sanyo GA 24/7
However, when i use a battery for a month or two, actualy when the bottom gets scatched from the charger i simply throw that battery away, safety first, its 4 euros
Even so nothing is guaranteed, i still could explode

yet, i would never ever go back to the casual smoking

No recycling where you live?

Well i usualy collect and throw them in the nearby shop`s battery recycling bin, prolly you have simmilar in US too in the stores

obviously, however no one can be sure some moronic government bureaucrat won’t do something stupid.

Like banning powerful vacuum cleaners? Or maybe cucumbers that aint 100% perfect? Welcome to the EU m8 !

Do you know that we are about to ban mixed swimming pools too? Indeed we are about too… and now me and my sons have to go there alone, while the wifey will visit it the other day when only women are allowed…in order not to heard someones feeling you know….

Yet you do not foresee governments caring about exploding batteries…

Ban everything.

Ban bottles because people stick em in their *hole.

Just put a sticker on the e-cigs “danger may harm your health”.
And dont allow import of E-cigs that have not met standards for safety like proper vent holes and overdischarge protection.

A proper lithium cell will vent not explode, a proper e-cig has vent holes so it cant explode,
it may vent gases and you got enough time to throw it away before they ignite themselves burning you.

I vape and I can say there has to be a lot we aren’t getting in the coverage. As has been stated, proper lithium polymer batteries will not explode. They vent out hot gases. If you look at any good mod, whether it be a mechanical or regulated there are vent holes for escaping gas. If you get a combination of someone who doesn’t understand battery safety and they don’t understand why you don’t make coils with .05 ohms of resistance you get issues like this. Unfortunately if you go into a vaping shop they are all too willing to sell you a mechanical mod and their very best ultrafire (name any other brand of cheap Chinese battery) batteries. They have no idea what they are doing and this is the result of that very attitude. The world is full of idiots and they are all to willing to show you how disastrously dumb they can be.

and that’s how a fuel-air explosive works —- vaporize the flammable material and mix it with air.

I hope you tape the positive and negative ends with duct tape before disposing them.

They dont explode when they vent into air. I’ve had one vent they just hiss and steam.

True but if the product the batt is in is air/water tight that might cause an explosion.

a fuel-air explosion still needs a igniter
you cant compare that to a rocket with 200kg of stuff getting sprayed out and ignited by a small bomb hitting a ship

the easiest fuel-air explosion is using gasoline inside a building and then hit the light switch after an explosive concentration was reached

venting lithium cell starts around 100°C nowhere hot enough to ignite the gas
also the gas venting from a lithium cell is not the bad it is when the metal starts to melt, burn and gets sprayed out

look at this video with as shortcut battery, no wonder nothing happenes, just the battery cut output when it starts to vent

and this a cheap cell with no internal protection vent valve disconnecting the cell

Yes I agree, that is why the vent holes are there in a good mod as I pointed out in my first post.
