Lumintop Tool AAA Keychain Flashlight Review

Received my new Tool tonight after seeing lots of great reviews. Unfortunately, the light may be smarter than I am as I cannot make it come on. Tried both the supplied battery (after removing the tab that protects it from coming on during transit) and a spare Duracell. Just to make sure, I tried one of my new batch of Eneloops that came in today with the light. Nada.

Tried using a paper clip to check connection between the tailcap and the battery. Nothing, but I may not have hit the right spot. Both Duracells measure 1.5x V while the new Eneloop shows 1.3+ V.

I’m open to suggestions. Really hoping that it isn’t DOA.

ETA: Also tried the magnetic tailcap but no love. Still new to the quality flashlight world so appreciate any help…

ETA 2: Think I figured it out. It’s working now but I think I’ll need to invest in some white lithium grease if that’s what everyone is using for the threads (I’m going to do a search now). I’m really pleased with the output, just as everyone stated!

Try to see what you need here: Comprehensive Grease and Lube Thread | Candle Power Flashlight Forum

It’s on another forum but gave everything you need to know about lube and grease.

I received my light 2 days ago. this thing is really well machined. Smooth threading and I love the feel of it. It is really a good light. I can’t wait to see the Hugsby lights I ordered to compare the two.

Has anyone gotten the code to work on Amazon? It doesn’t work for me.

The only code I know of is for GearBest.

The video OP posted mentions a 20% coupon code in the description of the vid, and provides a direct Amazon link (I’m not going to post it, you’ve got to go to Youtube and give OP some views if you want it :stuck_out_tongue: ).

But it didn’t work for me. OP, can you update us?

The ReyLight Ti has an electronic tail switch that works via a capacitor on the pcb of the tail. When you first put in a cell it takes a couple of minutes for the capacitor to charge so there’s a delay before the light works properly. I really like the size and style of this light!

As a teaser, there is a brass model about to be released with the electronic tail switch. It’s a very beautiful gold, classy, will make an excellent executive or ladies EDC. Don’t ask, I can’t say more til it’s time for review…

Sorry everyone, I didn’t realize there were updates in this thread (must have deleted the notification to email).

I just messaged the seller to get the coupon code fixed I will post it as soon as possible.

If your LuminTop Tool has the e-switch clicky, you have to allow it some time to charge the capacitor before it will function correctly. This is a very unique light, I don’t know of anyone else that uses this approach.

(The e-switch clicky is flush to the tail cap, with a SS button.)

Interesting. What would be the advantage of such a design?

I think in this case it is a matter of size constraints. An e-switch is much smaller than a mechanical clicky, so this most likely keeps size as minimalistic as possible and still allows tail standing.

I got the new code for the 20% off. Its posted in the OP

For some of us it look a little more than a few minutes, so be patient.

Currently $19.90 at Amazon.com.

I got mine from GB using code TOOLNY it was $9.99. Received it in less than2 weeks from China. I Am amazed at the quality of this light. Great little light for those moments you just need a bit of light.

The link in the OP has a magnetic non-clicky tailcap that I couldn’t find on the Chinese websites, it was worth the extra few bucks to me.

You are correct, mine does not have the flat end or the magnetic feature. They are both useful items if you need those features. For my use it wasn’t necessary.

You can buy different tailcap on ebay or aliexpress.

Good to know

Is it strange that this tiny $20 light with only 110 lumens has become my most favorite light! It’s so small, light and versatile and the brightness is perfect for 90% of tasks. I want 10 more to keep 1 everywhere!
