I recently got a set of these LED retrofit tube bulbs for some old fluorescent fixtures in my kitchen. I rewired one (bypassed the ballast), put in the new bulb, and it’s (mostly) great! I love the brightness, tint, and lack of buzzing from the old ballast. Unfortunately I got the clear cover instead of frosted - the bulb itself is more visible than I anticipated (even though it’s behind a valence), and the numerous emitters make distracting patterns on the walls near the ends of the fixture. Short of returning the clear ones (I’d be out >$10 for return shipping), is there a diffuser film I could put over the clear cover to effectively make my own frosted covers? I’d need 4 strips of something approx. 2” x 24”, and it’d need to be adhesive. Preferably something I could apply temporarily at first (to see if I like it without damaging the bulb), then permanently if I like it (I don’t want to be periodically dealing with sagging paper or peeling corners).
I’ve read that Glad Press n Seal makes a good diffuser film, but don’t have any handy - thinking about picking some up, but wanted to see how permanent that is, or if I’d have to tape it to get it to stay on these downward-facing bulbs.
