Oops, I think your link is wrong.

I have one in a 3D Mag with a 9AA battery pack in it. At the moment it has a 12V 20W lamp out of my desk light. It doesn't work very well. I plan to get some WA1185 bulbs just to play with, to see if they are any brighter than a well sorted 2D ROP. I doubt it'll be a lot brighter so I've not yet got around to buying the bulbs. From a quick rake around the CPFMarketplace threads I can't find the Kiu sockets which are the proper solution to this. I have one and a few bulb holders somewhere. The holders are identical to the ceramic ones Maplin sells. If you run seriously high power bulbs in the KD socket, it'll melt the tower that Mag uses to get their bulbs in the right place. I will be down near Airdrie in a couple of weeks time and can show you. After all, Airdrie isn't all that far from Livingston.

i don't plan running hi power bulbs 6v 10w in a 2D mag on 6xAA

let me know then your coming down this way an if i am free i will meet-up

Airdrie is only a 1/2 hour drive from here

My favourite nieces have birthdays on 25th Feb and 27th Feb, They live in a wee village halfway between Coatbridge and Airdrie. I will be down that way for their birthdays. I'll be in touch before then.

It usually takes me a bit less than that. Even since they put up all those speed cameras. At 100mph I used to reckon that a third of the traffic would pass me, nowadays at 80mph nobody is passing me. (For those not resident in the UK, the national speed limit is 70mph). Since I need a driving licence to do my job, I've given up serious speeding. Mostly. This beastie had two speeds, 109mph and stopped. At least 109mph on the good days, depends on when I last serviced it. In a bad week it's top speed was less than that. If Hondas don't get serviced every week (When your weekly mileage is over 1,000 miles), the engine is going to die. The island on which I worked then was ten miles long and four miles wide. On that I drove 1,100 miles a week.

like you i need my licence for work so i don't speed

so it will take me a 1/2 hour

if i do want to go fast i take one of my bikes YouTube - BMW F 800 GS off road only 200 miles on the clock or if i go really silly i have a Kawasaki ZZR 1100 150bhp 180mph dinosaur 1997 Kawasaki ZZR 1100 specifications and pictures not my bikes but identical

Not cheap, but it looks like he has some on sale just now. Link

But I see you've been there already.

Enjoy!

Hi Don

other than this place http://www.e-lectronics.net/bipin-fireproof-lamp-socket-base-p-406.html thay want $15 p+p

FM is the only place i can find them but i am having a wee bit of bother paying for them he refused my payment as pay pal has tried to pay in £GBP instead of $US so i have resent payment and hope all is well this time

the last of my ROP bulbs blew at the weekend i looked to order from light-hound but p+p is nearly $14 for $9.99 bulbs and to make it worth ordering you run the risk of customs charges as I'm sure you know

i can pick up 6 bi-pin 6v 10w-20w for £1.99 so would soon recover the cost of the socket

That e-lectronics one seems absolutely identical to the KD one I have. If you only plan to use G4 bulbs, the Kiu socket (if they are still available - after spending ages poring through CPF marketplace I can't find anything more recent than 2007) is probably the best bet. The 6V 20W bulbs aren't nearly as bright as a well sorted ROP but may be able to take brutal overdrive - 6 NiMH is nearly 9 volts fresh from the charger. If the bulbs are cheap enough, it could be fun finding out. I'm down to my last ROP high bulb, will need to see if I can find an affordable UK source. After a quick rake through Google and eBay no such luck. One pack plus postage is still below the UK VAT/import duty/Post Office ripoff as the limit is £18 or £36 if marked gift. However, it works out pretty dear per bulb.

Here you go this guys in the UK.
