Thrunite T10T XHP50

I decided to change my triple XPL-HI Thrunite T10T to an XHP50.

XHP50 J4-1A on Tpad soldered to copper heatsink
Sanded down reflector
GITD Tape bezel & MCPCB
15mm Fet zener modded driver
Potted with Artic Alumina
2 x 14250 280mAh cells
Green 6mm x 1.5mm trit in lanyard slot
Black graphite aesthetics
3.5A max tail current

Max – 1500lm
cd – 1400
Throw – 75m

Triple XP-L HI

XHP50

Max – 1500lm
cd – 1400
Throw – 75m

Thanks for looking

CRX , you have redefined hot rod mods .

That’s silly great, once again !
How long can it run on a reasonable level before draining the batteries ? And on Turbo ?

Thanks Jack

Thanks mate, it’s literally just finished ten minutes ago so i haven’t ran it yet, will let you know
Maybe i should take bets…

Ran it for two minutes on highest mode and the head got really hot so i let it cool some then ran it for another 1:30 until LVP kicked in. Left it off for a couple of minutes then got another 40s out of it.

Will test medium & low later.

So about 4min of turbo ? Wow, those tiny battery are punchy !

Yeah not bad for what it is although the cells are brand new - don’t know how much of that abuse they can take but like most of my lights turbo mode is only used for brief times and also bringing a smile to my face.
There’s still plenty light on the lower modes and other lights for runtime but i just love doing these fun builds

Two simple principle of those hot rods

  1. Overheat protection is the battery capacity
  2. gets extreemly hot so quick you have to let it drop and the emitter overcomes the solders adhesive force and gets loose from the star rattling in the head

Never happened yet but i’m trying!

Beast!

Beautiful! :+1:

Nice. :+1:

Thanks Guys

Rough test for medium (25%) i get 35 minutes, starting about 400lm down to LVP.

Thats just ridiculous………………i love it!!!

And here I though XHP50s were only meant for (much) larger lights…
How did you craft the reflector for it?

EDIT: oh, it was already modded from a reflector light to be a triple… never enough light… hehe

forgive me but I’m more curious on where did you get that triple for a small light like the t10

 :+1:

Well they are really meant for larger light fittings/ hosts, the power used and heat created is high. These lights are not practical for most but suit my needs just fine. I suppose they’re kinda like me - small, powerful, hot, but not much stamina
I did take a couple of mm off the length of the reflector to get more copper behind the LED and a better beam profile, widen the aperture a bit and take off the shiny coating with 0000 wire wool to reduce the projected cross hair of the emitter.

It was a 20mm noctigon and TIR sanded down so much there was about 0.5mm left on the optic legs and on the MCPCB i had to solder jumper leads for the negative connections as there was no trace left on the board.

I’m waiting on beamshots!

Awesome build for sure! People are impressed by my Fenix UC02 @ 125 lumens, this would really blow them away.

Holy cow, CRX, that is amazing! Might as well go for broke if you’re going for all flood, right? lol

So, tickle my brain a little more: how does it behave in Medium and Low modes, in regards to tint shifts, lumen output (candelas if possible so we can know what’s the throw) and runtime? Also you’re running this baby blaster on 14500s, correct? Noot sure how much the XHP50 can milk out of an AA.

I’ve only just made an integrating sphere the other week and haven’t played around with it much or started learning about measurements yet but i get 1500lm at startup, the lux measurement is 1400lx at 1m so calculated 75m throw sound about right?
Keeping in mind these mini pocket rockets are FET driven and normally used for ten seconds or less on highest mode so these are not ansi standard.
High mode gives about 4 minutes total runtime.
Medium mode i get 35 minutes, starting about 400lm down to LVP.
Not much tint shift with the XHP50 J4-1A, maybe a very slight yellow at the edge.
The cells used are two 14250 280mAh for the 6v emitter, half the size of 14500.

Even more ridiculous builds here , here and here
