Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

You guys are the best! I used the information provided in this thread to buy a router for $0.1 this morning! Couldn’t believe it. I first noticed the yellow tag marked $15.03, went to self checkout to scan price. It popped a penny, I went back to aisle where the remaining two were. They were gone from the shelf with the yellow tag removed when I came back. The Electrical Dept. associate observed what I did, he probably scanned the router with his code reader. When it popped a penny he must have taken them. Very few people in store at the time. No other explanation. Either way I am extremely happy! Thank you!

Why wouldn’t Home Depot have the self-checkouts set off an alarm (or at least deny the transaction and signal for an associate) when an item rings up for a penny? Especially if they’re so dead set on keeping penny items out of consumers hands! It just doesn’t make sense.

Shhhhhhhhhh!

Not $0.1, $0.01

Which router? The NetGear?

Not $0.1, $0.01

Which router? The NetGear?

Garry,

the smaller tool chest to the left at $79 was what I got on BF for $59, and I thought THAT was a good deal

I don’t understand why they use the system that they do either. I have been using the ‘DCHOMAK’ maneuver myself (carrying the barcode from an item to check the price). I walked into a store, scanned a code for the energizer weatheready lanterns, and giggled with glee when it price checked for a penny. The clerk had the audacity to tell my back that she could not let me take the item ‘if it rang up for a penny’.

I carefully ignored her and kept walking into the store, on the hunt, but I had no luck finding any. She may have put the manager on me, as I ran into him several times as I checked various locations. He and I had a little good natured banter and I flat told him I was looking for penny items (this not being a store I go to often, and rarely having any luck anyway). When I left I told him that he should tell his inventory crew they were doing a first rate job, since I didn’t find anything.

He laughed and told me “Thank you, if you are looking for penny deals you should check (other store, in worse section of town), that crew isn’t as good as we are here.”

Thinking about the exchange, I don’t feel bad about getting the penny deals. The stores and the suppliers stack the deck to preclude price shopping. “Yes these two sets look the same, but this one is a 45 piece driver set, the one you have on that web site at our competitors is a 43 piece set.” Sooner or later some smart puppy like DCHOMAK is going to figure out a way to use thier system to the advantage of the customer. Given the amount of crap that I didn’t really need that has followed me home on my 2-4 times per week hunting trips, I think they are still ahead.

I saw a Echo 58V blower for $99. One 2.0AH battery and charger.

My excitement resulted in the typo, yes $0.01. Not the Netgear, its a TP-LINK Archer C50 AC1200 Dual Band Wireless Router. Something else interesting happened. Out of curiosity, I asked an associate for a price check on another brand of router marked $89.00 on the shelf, he scanned it and said $79.00. Instant savings of $10.00? Mismarked? Death spiral? I will be keeping an out on that particular one as well.

That could be the very well be. Between the 2 routers on clearance, the TP-Link and the NetGear, I think the TP-Link is the better router. It is dual band

That tool chest that I posted about above was not originally $99.00 as I stated, it was at one time $124.00! And before that it may have been even a little higher.
An even better deal than I thought.

As I said, this is not on clearance, but a “new lower price”, although at this price they will be cleared out.
You can check the web site or use your app to check for stock.

The tool chests are still $74 in Ky, will be keeping an eye out for the next reduction

Yeah
On Friday I will be passing thru Olean, NY.
As of right now they have 8 in the store, still at $74.00

Picked up the last one in Knoxville for 49, great deal on a heavy duty (durn near 100 pounds) chest. Thanks to all who posted about it! It’s a shame the matching roller cabinet is still $149, although I am still tempted at that price.

Quiet…,
I’m going in the AM… need a new sander

LOL,
Near 100lbs? No wonder a friend called to ask me how I got 2 of them up a flight of stairs at his house. (I dropped 2 off for him)

BTW, $49 per 100 lbs works out to 49 cents a pound. Heck barbell weights at WalMart even with a price rollback is more.
75 cents per pound!

When buying anything, sometimes it is useful to stop and consider the price per pound.
(just one more piece of data to consider when judging the value of something)

Here is something I NEVER thought to do.
These cabinets being a non-clearance item can be found on the HD app and their website

The first store I found these tool boxes at had 7 in stock. A display and 6 boxed up. I bought 6.
I quickly passed 4 off to friends and had 2 left. Just in case I needed more, I went online a couple of nights ago and found a local store that had 3. The next morning at 6AM they only had 2, so I used PayPal and bought the remaining 2. A couple of hours later they emailed me to let me know they were on a cart by customer service. They next day I picked them up!

EASY.

When I went to pick them up, I saw the third one there also on a cart. Probably also purchased online.
I would think one could buy 1 this way and perhaps pick it up a week later!
My purchase order.

Today I unpacked my first 9 drawer tool chest. It’s huge
That’s an HD2010 on the top shelf for scale.

I like it so much I ordered another online at a store I will be driving by this Saturday. I will pick it up then. Notice that on the order confirmation it mentions that I have until March 3rd to pick it up. That’s over a month, plenty of time to pick an order up at an out of the way store.

Last year I caught one of these carts at the “3” price of $23.03. Now it seems other stores are starting to clear them out. Here is one still at the “6” price of $67.06

The newer replacement version of the Ridgid Tri-Stack compressor is also on clearance at some stores. Regularly $299, here it is at $207.06. Last year I caught 1 at $75.03. Could happen again.

A couple of days ago, I was with a friend in an HD and he bought one of these Home ProjectCalcs at $12.06. I looked at the date and told him they would go to the “3” price any day now. Sure enough, next day they were $3.83. He got the refund.

Nano lube is down to a penny

Dchomak, I registered just to tell you thank you. I’ve been browsing this forum for the past year…a lot more often after this post was created.

I now frequent about 8 local home depots…no penny deals yet. I just scored the Husky tool chest last night though!

You’re welcome!
And welcome to BLF.

Tomorrow I leave for North East Ohio and on Monday on to Columbus. I will probably pass right thru your stomping ground.
Guess there’s no use trying to find deals at your HD’s, right

I will be picking up 3 more of those tool chests along the way though, found online and already paid for.
Errr, you ARE going to use yours for storing flashlights, right?

Just kidding

I was in Providence, RI today and saw this rolling work top cabinet on sale for $209.00. It is the same one that has been on sale for $298 since before Black Friday. So far this is the only store that I have seen them at this price. Other stores could follow. At 52 inches long, it is perfect for 2 of these 26 inch upper tool chests side by side.

At one time it was $329.00

I plan on putting 2 of those 9 drawer, 26 inch cabinets on the one I have. Here is mine with 2 - 26 inch 4 drawer toolchests that I got on BF. Those 2 tool chests are not as high, doesn’t have as many drawers nor are as deep as the $49.00 one. They are already full, the reason I need the bigger ones.

The Providence store had the 26 inch tool chest and it’s matching bottom on display. The top is $49 and the 7 drawer bottom is $149.00
The combination is in the foreground of this picture and stands about 5 feet tall.

I’ve given this some thought, my phone is 2100mAh (2000 used for calculation) @ 3.7V is 7.4Wh, @ 70% would give about 10.5Wh, so two full charges would eat 21Wh or about half the 43Wh of the booster. This is not exact, there would be some inefficiencies and i would charge the phone before its completely dead but i will from now on do two charges from the power pack instead of 1/2 that i was doing.
This should create a storage voltage of about 40-50%
