My first check from YouTube!

Hi gang,

Thought I’d share this in case anyone’s interested in what you can expect from doing this. I would also like to say thank you to everyone who has been with me on the journey. With out you it would not be possible…

If you have your own channel and would like to share your experience please feel free.

Congrats, dude!

My own channel has been quite an experience in the making. And in no other age could we enjoy the ability to just amass such audiences as we can now.

Very nice video. I wish you much more success!

Interesting insight. Thanks.

Congratulations. It takes a lot of hard work to get to that level!

Congrats, looks like a fun way to make money!

Congrats, and thanks for sharing. I’ve always been curious. Best of luck with the business and channel.

Thanks for sharing! Your CPM will increase as you gain more subscribers. Some of the larger channels I’ve worked with can make upwards of $5 per 1000 views thanks to the higher level of viewer interaction and viewer retention brought about by having more subscribers.

Videos greater than 10 mins in length will generally bring in 1.5 to 2.5x the revenue because of the additional ads than can be shown. That’s why all those vlog channels have videos that are 20+ minutes long.

I made right at about $2200 last year. It’s an extra little bit of money a month… although when you look at how many hours you put in then…

Congrats!!! Well done!!!

It seems that the luck is not for me.

Im about a year… only about 17$. I will need 4-5 years to reach the minimum to get paid.

The people today only wants Hollywood-like productions videos with high quality video/sound/light/sound effects etc…… way far from the “spirit”/idea youtube was created….

YouTube is a time consuming machine….

The luck smiles to some people… and not to others…

XP

Wish i could get cash for trolling in the YT comments… :stuck_out_tongue:

Gratz!
I do not have the same account on this computer as on my pad, but pretty sure I recognise your face and while late night lazy in bed watched and also subscribed to your channel, not 100% but 95%

Very cool of you to share this. Few will. Very interesting video.

I will tell you that at one time I was making about $50 a month on adsense ads on my popular website……until I posted some political information that Google didn’t approve of……
they cancelled my adsense account and refused to pay me for 3 months of advertising they received.
In my opinion, they did this to a large number of people with the “wrong” leanings and a big class action lawsuit resulted (even though that never really was pointed out or cited as the reason). Link to the lawsuit below. I never trusted Google again after that. I feel like adsense is a casino with Google as the “house”.

But good luck and thanks for posting this.

Google lawsuit

Checked now and had your “Led upgrades for Maglite” and “DIY Lumen Measuring Device” in my liked videos and are a subscriber

Also Thanks for the insight in a Yotuber reality wich I have not really given any thought about until now.

Well done, VOB. And keep those informative (and entertaining!) videos coming. I know I’ve picked up some great tips from them.

Yeah !
You really need to cater to the masses !
And the video needs to go viral to make money …
So if you have a really good cat or dog video , that people would lough their collective asses off at … That could make you some $$

And when it comes to cameras , a half decent Action Camera should work well .
I just got a ELE Explorer , and the Audio is simply amazingly good for a budget action cam .
There was a guy making bucket loads of money by making video’s of women in swimsuits shooting guns …

Seems that sort of thing is popular …
But if your going to do fringe video ( yeah flashlights are still fringe ) , then
What seems popular is car stuff …

Hot Rod Garage
Engine Masters
That sort of stuff …

It’s amazing just what can be popular …
I have to monetize my other youtube channel …
Just having trouble linking accounts

Congrats my friend. You deserve it. Many thanks for all the wonderful customs you’ve built for me and solid advice. You are the “MAN” …

i will try trolling at your video

interesting
to start youtube for the money seems wrong, if you have fun doing it, maybe money can be made but IMHO it should not be the focus.

WOW You guys... SUPER thanks for all the comments

Thanks man, it gives me hope. :)

Right. That would be a whole other video, but my INexpericance, coupled with low grade equimpent, coupled with tyring to make things perfect that never turn out to be any way, I would estimate about a twelve to thirteen CENT per hour ratio.

For this reason I would be leery of having it alone as my income like some of the bigger channels. You basically work for them and they can fire you for any or no reason since you actually have no work contract with them.

Trolls are people too :)

Yep, doing it for the money alone will never get you through the tough times starting a youtube channel. I always tell people the same thing about owning a business. Create it around something you LOVE, and you passion will carry you through. Money is not a good reason to be miserable doing something.

I will say that having a business that is tied to my channel does help me "Justify" making videos though :GRAD:
