home depot 3c triple $8

spotted this looking for info on my similar side switch single.
might order a few for the hell of it.
3c triple

3x26500 in series, if they fit length-wise, connected to 3 XPL in series would make a bright light.

depends of the heatsinking, who knows hollow pill or other crap inside

In this Defiant flashlights’ stock/factory form with it using x3 “C” cells , what needs to

be done to convert it to the use of a (x1) Li-lion 18650

For $8 I would definitely buy a couple, but not Home Depot around here

I know the description says, “casing material:aluminum” but I can’t shake the feeling that is wrong. I was looking at all the flashlights on the home Depot shelves last week and I would have bet money that it was plastic based on my memory (which has been known to be wrong from time to time, ask my wife). If it is plastic, forget any dreams of putting 3x26650 and 3x(any real well driven LED) in it.

I have one and it looks , feels and sounds—when you tap it— like it’s aluminum !
However of course keep in mind , there’s a saying “Looks can be deceiving ” .

OK if you have one then your info is better than mine, I was just basing it on a very fuzzy memory of a light I didn’t even look that closely at. So I’m very likely wrong in this case. Carry on!

Probably nothing needs to be done, other than find something to fill the rest of the tube with since a single 18650 (or 26650) will have similar voltage to 3xC cell.

So on that note, what’s the easiest way to fill remaining space in the tube? Are there some adapters out there?

DIY pointers welcome.

I'm using 2P 18650's with no issues or other mods. Pretty nice light. I pulled down my protype pics because I was worried others might copy them and there was some risk with the design. Dchomak made a very nice version here.

What kind of LEDs are in this light, does anyone know?

I grabbed 2 of these for Christmas presents. Good gifts for old people who cough at anything new like unfamiliar batteries.

This light comes out every year about this time. In the past they have always been 850 lumen with the 3 emitters. Here is a shot of one I picked up a couple of years ago.

Notice that the emitter in the upper left is larger than the other 2. It looks like an XP-G2
When I do a search for the SKU# 1001396908 on the HD site I get 2 different hits. 1 for an 850 lumen light and 1 for a 1000 lumen light.

In the gift section in the stores they display the 1000 lumen one.

At the time I checked the 3 emitters and all 3 look like XP-G2’s Probably why the light is now rated at 1000 lumen

Thanks. What is the beam pattern like? Im guessing somewhere in between a thrower and a flooder? Can the strobe be bypassed? Im guessing no.

It is probably a perfect combination of the 2. This is the perfect gifting light for the non flashaholic.

Just ordered 2 of these today at 12.88/ea and one of the $10 set which includes 150 lumen defiant light and a headlamp could not pass it up. Thanks :+1:

working on a 3d printed 2p 18650 cartridge for these.
stay tuned for the .stl and bom.

Awesome I will go check them out at my home depot looks like a nice light. Regarding the sizes of the led’s do you think those two smaller ones are the old production xp-g2’s and the larger one, the new production led?

Just picked up ours from home depot today. I am just a noob but the light shines great. Its a good combination of flood/thrower. Even the little $10 lights were a good surprise. We can use the $10 ones and put them in the “Box Of Lights” for general everday use. And that would allow me to keep my better lights stored for emergencies. Great gift items. I will definitely be getting more while they last.

Here is the 1000-lumen version:
