L T P;s new builds light bar complete @141

It happens. I’m no expert but some do and some dont. A crook earth also wont help. If I get a chance I’ll drop in and you can give me a lesson on soldering chips.

Just a little update
2 more heads built slightly heavier diameter up to 41.5mm from 40mm
head is now 8mm longer shelf now 10mm thick and another 3mm of thread
in the driver battery tube area

one is for a 17mm driver the other for a 20mm.

until next time.

Nearly finished? The wall thickness looks pretty thin in places. Must have had the sweat glands working overtime.

bit to do yet and i’m adding a quad to the mix/
series.so it will be 3x3+ a 4 all jammed into a 42mm dia head.
will have to trim the reflector a tad and perhaps tighten the thread pitch
and then we may see how good the blf drivers from bangood are…

a few hiccups and here we go.

had to trim the 16mm stars

solders a little ratty

slightly bigger than the first one
the blf driver is doing some strange things when trying to take a tailcap reading it flickers and goes back to low instead of the 4th mode
but works fine with the cap fitted,

Sweet builds ltp. Whats the leds? Have you got an anodising setup going?

xpg3 1a,from kd. cheap as chips. about 2 $ each

no the anodized one in the middle is a convoy c8.
we did anodizing at school cant remember how it was done though

I dont remember the anodising but do remember quenching hot steel in oil to blacken it. So why are the two new lights blue?

I polished it and bounced it on the lathe bed :confounded: , could be a reflection as in earlier posts the first one looks silver to me

Nice work Ben :+1: I might get inspired to machine a host from scratch one day

Might be the contrast against the orange towel…??

Ok, I'm late to the party, but is it just me or.. that beam shot is amazing. Take a look at that pic again and think bicycling. Maybe I should quit messing with xm-l2's.

Yes please.

wont run off a dynamo very well.

but yes triples ect put out a whole lot of light,i will take a pic on med level when next home
as I am sure you wont want to run at 6a for bike riding…

“PP we all want to see a build from you and your machine”

Wow! Super impressive!!

It's not the amount of light I'm talking about. I've got a quad xm-l2 setup. My point is just that pattern. Maybe it's just the way the photo came out, but that seems like a really nice beam profile.

That’s a sweet build. A few others have those triple reflectors on order to see how they compare to tir triples.

I might have to buy the quad version and see about getting my wires out of the way of it. It may just not work out the same with a bigger emitter though.

Of course none of this relates much to the great handiwork on this host.

You have made three nice lights ltp. I’ll have to take them out for a test drive next time I’m up.

Whats next on the agenda? I know Rob wants a bike light.

not a patch on your workmanship. you have set the bar way high mrsdnf.

I have a quad to build and that will be it for a while

but I need to plant some oats first.

I’ve got a c8 in the shed rob can have.

You are far to modest ltp.
