S70 and L6 aint throwers, they do spill alot: sometimes its usefull, sometimes not
For 60$ ro arround that the best one you could buy is Olight M2X( coild be found for 60 or smth): easy moddable , light( 220 grams), easy to carry, 240+cds easy reaching even with its default driver and the lame HI emitter inside, if modded like it should be youll get 300+ cds

Do you know if that Olight M2X and Jetbeam M1X has the same internal design? I would like to know if I can mod my M1X like M2X.
I think the Maxtoch lights are still really good throwers, but are a little above $60, more like $80 unless there’s a discount code or group buy. The M24 got really good reviews stock: dedomed LED, direct thermal path, and AR glass.
The SN6X-2X is discontinued so it will be hard to find unless you can convince Maxtoch to make an upgraded one (I saw that there’s an upgraded M12 on aliexpress). It had a larger reflector than the M24 and was super nice build quality as is all their lights, I have one of the original versions and really like it. It came with a domed emitter and I think non-AR glass, but with some modifying it could be made to really throw.
Nope m8, M1X is a bit different inside, it has a pill desing plus its reflector is kinda weaker: yet it could end up fairly okay one if tuned properly yet its modding isnt that lovely
Late M1X revisions dont have a pill btw, the last one i`ve modded was different yet the reflector was the same
Zebrette, if you have the Convoy L6 but are looking for more of a thrower, don’t get the Throfire S70. Pretty much the same thing. I have both, great lights and they throw way out there, I’d give the nod to the Throfire as it has a lighted button which you can see in the deep dark woods but would be hard pressed to say which threw farther. They’re both excellent.
Anyone going to pitch the Q8?

The price really IS fantastic on the Thorfire s70.
Imagine holding a Thorfire S70s in one hand and a Convoy L6 in the other, both on Turbo downrange at the same time….
The L2 has a tiny hotspot compared to the L6. It’s a much weaker emitter (1000 to 1200 lumen?) compared to the 3800 to 4000 lumen of the L6 and S70.
I don’t care for small hotspots like the L2 and xhp35 lights have so I did like Matt and converted my L6 into a thrower. My numbers are lower across the board compared to Matts, but I did double my lux and the results are noticable.
There are some warehouses where I work that non of my lights could reach, but I can get them now.
Plus, I can toss in my original OP reflector and get a fatter, but less far reaching, beam.
A sweet balance would be an L2/L6 with smo reflector and xhp50.2 led, 3000 lumens with nice beam and decent throw.
perhaps the SMO reflector for the L6 coul be fitted to th S70s since they are Very close measurements , surely someones tried it , pls speek up
I thought the same, but some more experienced members here told me it would be about the same as the xhp70. So no real advantage.
Definitely would not fit.
My stock, except for R082 resistor added, L6 could never reach these warehouses. Now it can. Honestly that’s as much throw as I need. Any more and I’ll need my binoculars to see out there. Lol

I disagree, xhp50.2 has a tight hotspot, nothing near xhp70
Well, a dome on xhp50.2 is only a tiny bit smaller than a sliced dome xhp70. Then when you figure the xhp70 is 2000 lumen brighter, I guess they sort of even out.
I was gonna buy a xhp50.2 from mtn the other day, but decided not to. It’s only $11. I think I’ll wait and try a xhp70.2. Idk, $11 might be worth it to try it out.
Banggood has the new hands down best budget thrower IMHO and there’s a good code for it also floating around.
The Mactoch MM12 XPL-HI and comes with an extension and uses 1 or 2, 26650’s
Maxtoch is for real one of the few vendors that their specs are just what they say they are, none of that Chinese lumens stuff with Maxtoch, very high quality, and this new light specs say it’s able to reach out there with the two 26650’s w/extension to spot out to 1000 meters,

Here’s a few pics I took just the other night with a 2*18650 Maxtoch 2X, later it turned out by using Google Earth this shot was at about 250yds,
That thing in these pics with the white star on it is the back of a drive in movie theaters screen, cops where looking for some guy who was supposed to be up on the top of that screen, all they had was their small flashlights on their bat utility belts or whatever you call it, so I gave them a hand with my 2X,
These aren’t great pics and don’t really do the light justice but it was miserable conditions and spur of the moment thought to take a few pics with a old camera to boot, and by the way there was nobody up there but we could definitely see if there was or not and it was raining like crazy here in the PNW.

Since I had the privilege of helping with the development of the newest 2X I may be a bit bias but……….
I think for a little more than your budget yet still under $100 , the Maxtoch 2X is about the best “Out of the Box” thrower you will find. It puts good useable light well down range past where the L6 and the S70 are no longer making useful seeing light.
Don’t get me wrong I have both the L6 and the S70 and they are great lights , but they just do not come close in the throw of the 2X.
I can see larger objects at least 1000 yards with my eyes with the 2X.
EDIT: I figured I better clarify that statement since there are the dedomed XM-L2 U4 and the new XHP70 version of the 2X now……The dedomed U4 1A is the long thrower.

This new XPL-HI looks nice but the throw specs is a bit less than the 2X specs, this one is rated at 1000 meters and the 2X was 12or1300 wasn’t it?,
But with a $30 off code it makes me almost want to go by their 2X in XHP70 or the MM12 in 70 or just one of each darn it, and it’s mostly your fault… ha ha, Talk to you in a bit…!! … G.
Edit: Actually hate to disagree with you of all people or maybe as usual I misread your comment but with these new lights the 2X model like the last lights of 2X is with the XHP70 and only 500 meters throw has the OP reflector, I think they made a mistake making that and should have waited for the new XHP70.2’s as RMM from Mt. took the new XHP50.2 and all the issues with both those LEDs like doughnut holes due to dies are gone he said after putting one straight into a C8 smooth and the beam was perfect, so that’s why I think Maxtoch jumped to quick or not for what it is a basic flood search light.
I am waiting to get the one I bought which is the thrower, with XPL-HI and with the extension on and 2-26650’s Maxtochs specs are 1000 meters and 850 I think in single 26650, then they have the HD which is less, but one thing we know about Maxtoh is their specs are spot on, no matter what, none of that Chinese lumens stuff…

Yea I would say the M12 is a good light also as is the XHP70 version of the 2X. The M12 I think is rated at around 850 or 900 meters though so the 2X will still have it beat as far as the throw of the lights , the newest M24 should beat the M12 by a little bit even but none the less with any of the Maxtochs I don’t think one would go wrong. As you know from owing a few of them they are top notch in the quality department also.
I may be getting a little birdie dropping one of these newest models of the lineup off for a review soon but it isn’t written in stone just yet so we will have to see what the birdie says……lol
