What are the top 10 signs .."You might be a Flashaholic"?

Hahaha lol

Not of topic and not discussed
Check Nr 2 in OP
“2.While having sex you utter the name of a high end flashlight instead of your mates .”
Like WTF, ones mates names, really?

….if there is an overrun of a dozen or more near your desktop that you find yourself looking at more than using…… of course these are just “expendable” lights, the real ones are tucked securely away where you know you can find one when you really NEED IT… :open_mouth:

Wait, do you follow me ? Are you my neighbor or something ?

When you stand a solid minute in front of your flashlight shelf to choose THE RIGHT ONE before leaving for the week-end…in a house…in the city…
Oh but of course, you’ll end up taking at least three : a flooder, a thrower and one more for good measure…

HaHa! Nope, this is what I do… every time! :person_facepalming:

I have a DQG Hobi on my keyring, and I carry the Olight S1A in another pocket (the one I got for doing a review, along with 49 other BLFers). But I almost always grab another flashlight if I’m going anywhere that I expect to still be there at night. Oh yeah, my car currently has TWO flashlights in it as well!

…When you watch the movie you pause the movie and try to determine which flashlight the main character is using.
And then disappointedly you will recognize in this flashlight an inexpensive low-quality chines brand.

Haha, did that last night watching 400 days.
A gold SRK it was. Crap movie BTW.

Somehow I started to watch (= quick browsing) exploration YouTube videos where people explore abandoned buildings, hospitals and malls. I have thought about contacting these guys to advise about flashlights…

You reminisce about the good old pre-LED days when you used to impress the crap out of people with your Mini-Maglite.

1131 lumens but i’m not a flashaholic

When asked how many lights you EDC, you show them what’s in your pockets, then when they ask, “What about the one(s) on your keychain?”, you reply “It doesn’t really count because (insert delusional justification here)”.

Or when you buy a beater light because you don’t want to run alkaleaks in your good lights. Then you decide you need more beater lights, because you don’t want alkaleaks to ruin your good beater light.

When you have multiple battery chargers for various locations (home, work, car, in-laws, BOB) so that you can charge any of the 6+ spare 18650’s you carry, should you ever deplete one or more of them.

When you have battery chargers that are powered by batteries.

When your obsession for edged weapons is only exceeded by your “fondness” of flashlights.

You’re a flashaholic when you stop using alkaleaks even for the spare beater lights and use Eneloops, because all your lights are like your children.

I should have clarified. To drain the alkaleaks my wife buys, then leaves all around the house, half-used.

when you have more than 10 flashlight and still using camera flash sometimes instead the one in your keychain
and when you have a light in you keychain, and 2 more in your backpack(just in case), and of coure a spare battery, just in case, and a power bank to charge your EDC light, just in case, again

I became "interested" in LED flashlights shortly before joining BLF. I quickly got the bug and ordered five lights in less than a month. The darn things are like Doritos, I'm tellin ya!!

I look around at images of peoples collections, and OMG, that guy has a serious problem. But in reality, I can relate. I could easily follow in many members tracks here.

I like throwers. It amazes me seeing a beam of light shoot SO far!! The Thrunite TN42, for example. OMG, THAT LIGHT IS AMAZING!! DO I need one? No.

Buuuuttt I want one!!

<sigh>

Guilty as charged…

When you call flashlight by its emitter name or tint color…

Well after reading through this thread, (a symptom of flashoholism, no doubt), I’m sure that if you put us all in a dark room, any political, religious, or personal differences we have would melt away. We’ve got this crazy addiction. I’m sure mine fulfills some childhood desire cuz lights sucked back then. That would explain why I have so many walkie-talkies and knives.

Here are some goofy things about my light hobby that may sound familiar:

  • I give lights as gifts to people who continually ask to borrow my lights.
  • Bought a nice Skilhunt H03 headlamp, liked it so much I bought another for work. Work is too nasty and undeserving of that light so I bought a Boruit RJ-02 for $8 to use there. Great light, almost too good for work. Where to from there?
  • Wifey said she thought the clear Nitecore Tube worn on a ball chain around my neck looked cute. An excuse to neck-wear 24/7.
  • Christmas: Blitzwolf camping lantern/power bank for all the kids, grandkids, and wife. (with phone charging cords so they don’t take mine)
  • Stepson started truck driving, hmmm, Tube and ball chain just in case. (he loves it).
  • Nitecore F1 charger/power bank in car and motorcycle, just in case. (hey, there’s 18650s everywhere in laptops and vape shops just in case of apocalyptic situation)
  • Took inventory at arrival to work: Tube neck light, cooyoo quantum ti on keychain, copper Tool AAA in pocket bottom, SC62d clipped to pocket. Reached for the Boruit headlamp.
  • Excited for storm season, possibility that electric will go out for a little while and I can say “see? good thing I had lights for us all!”
  • Wifey bought me a Powercap beanie with beautifully tinted 5MM emitters. Thinking about modding it with the driver and battery from a Nitecore Tube.
  • Bought multi-pack of Micro-USB charging cables to distribute to all my locations in the highly unlikely event that I’m caught needing a charge.
  • My children have the best lights in school!

I thought it would help if I stayed off CPF and instead focused on budget lights. Turns out that I’m like a smoker or drinker that buys cheaper cigs or booze but spends as much cuz they consume twice as much. I’m gonna try to hold off until Skilhunt puts out a new CR123/16340 light or if I find a sweet AA light. I need to use up a bunch of 16340s and I’ve got a ton of Eneloops.

If your junk drawer became your flashlight drawer…then the drawer next to it and so on…

When you dream is:
I want to be alive when LED will have 99% efficiency and 1% heat losses.
