Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

Cool color mix. I have no experience with those specific lights, but that line of lights have real useful beam pattern.

Scored a framers tool belt with suspension rig for $15.03 this morning. Didn't have time to take a pic.

I see that Dcho continues to be on a tear. I haven't had any luck replicating those finds, but I love hearing about them.

Yeah, Iā€™m on a tear alright.
I will say it again, EVERYTHING that goes to a 6 or 3 or 4 or 2 price WILL eventually be marked in the system as a penny.
The hard part is finding one on a shelf somewhere when they do.
More and more it seems that different regions have different dates on their clearance items. For example, Garry just scored the BOSCH laser measure, GL10X, for $7.52. They are still $15.04 around here. Here is a display of them that although they are marked at $29.88, they scan for $15,04. They were missed. Maybe they will be missed again when they go to $7.52, andā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦maybe when they go to a penny :innocent:

Here is a 2 price I scored day before yesterday.

This I donā€™t understand, this 1000 lumen worklight pennied out last year

Here are some deals I came across

Sorry about this one.

Home Depot thinks they can hide these from me, but I know they are up there
That is 2 of the 200 piece tool sets and box that I got 2 weeks ago for $50.04. I am watching them, when they hit $25.02 I am buying! (and get the reduction for the 3 I already bought)

Now, here is some stuff I got for a penny yesterday.
These wire ties

These GE LED, Hi CRI flood lights. There were a lot.

These extension tubes, ABS plastic

I donā€™t, canā€™t, shouldnā€™t report everything I find for a penny. It should be enough to report stuff that goes on clearance.
Itā€™s up to to everyone, on their own, to find it WHEN it does hit a penny.

I saw this last week in Canada for regular price of $9.98, i took a picture of the Canadian sku in case it goes on clearance (its not on our website which happens even for non clearance items)
Good to know it will eventually go on clearance, 4AA looks promising.
Did you buy it, does it have modes?

I did not buy, the main reason I shot that picture is because you canā€™t always believe the clearance tags.

Speaking of that, because of ImA4ā€™s post above I was able to score on the Framerā€™s Belt. My store had them marked at $45.06

But they rang up for $15.03 This purchase is not for me but rather for a friend.

Here is what one looks like spread out on the pavement.

BTW, while I was there I was able to find some 6 to 1 Coax splitters good up to 2.4GHz
The 2.4GHz is important as it allows a MoCA network.
(MoCA is a way to pass ethernet over cable tv coax)

The adapters were a penny

Its an electronic switch so iā€™m not sure it would be good for storing for emergencies for the folks, but the size and lumens would be perfect. I canā€™t teach them to remove the batteries when not in use, iā€™ve tried.
I agree the tags are unreliable, its the same here, about 75% of the time they are accurate, the other 25% it can be lower or sometimes higher (our clearance prices are updated by some computer and do sometimes go up, which is well known among the associates).
$5.04 is a good price, are you waiting for a better price or is it just not a light you need?

^
$5.04 is a good price, but even I have my limits. I - just - have - too - many - lights. :person_facepalming:

LOL!
I also have far too many. Been thinking of selling about half

I find that hard to believeā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.

So this thread has been quiet.

They completely restocked my local. Lots of cool stuff Iā€™m looking forward to!

Iā€™m going to be keeping a close eye on the pistol safes.

I did pick up some of the garden house connectors, sharpies, and a stack of $1 spark plugs

Yes, Bc412, there are a LOT of things going on clearance!!!

Yesterday I bought 18 of these tool bags.

There are 10 to a flat. After I bought those 18 and off loaded them into my car, I came back in and the rest were GONE. I should have bought more on the first trip because this morning I texted 3 friends with the picture and asked how many they wanted.
4
10
4
None left for me :person_facepalming: :frowning:

Here is a bunch of other stuff I saw.

These worklights, some bare light only and some with free battery and charger all ring up for $200.

This upright compressor, originally 199, then 142, now $95.04

I missed out on this 2 pack of folding utility knives.

This last one I am hoping to catch at the ā€œ2ā€ price. The 3 pack of Duracell lights ring up for $10.04, but are not priced at the display.
They may survive to the price of $5.52.
The 2 pack of ā€œCā€ cell MagLites ring up for $13.04, but are still priced at $19.00 at the display.

I still continue to be amazed by the pictures of clearance racks at other stores. Mine look like they have been rode hard and put up wet. Most of the stuff that hits our racks are ragged and dumpy. There are much fewer items usually. I think it is reflective of the conditions and economy in the area surrounding the store. I can take heart that we have been developing a couple inland ports here in South Carolina and will expect more manufacturing to move into the state to take advantage of lower transportation costs. I imagine our HD's clearance racks will start looking more like yours in time.

Friday morning, I did get one of those Husky Tool Walls for $3.33 and some weed wacker line for a penny. The weed wacker line was green in a clear and black plastic container. Was .8" diameter, iirc. Named Silentwist. It was marked $3.83 $2.83 and dated something like 11/10/16.

EDIT: Sorry folks. I misreported the marked price. These rang up at a penny at the Harbison Blvd store in Columbia, SC.

Thanks to you, I was able to score one of these myself!
Here is how it went.

Knowing that this particular ECHO brand SilentTwist went to a penny, today when I went to Home Depot, I made a bee line to the gardening section looking for string trimmer line.
Here is what I saw.

Where the ECHO branded Green trimmer string used to be is now ā€œRhno-Tuffā€. Same Green string and .080ā€
BUT, in the back, laying horizontally on top of the Rino-Tuffs, I spotted on of the ECHOā€™s
The Blue arrow points to it.

Now on the floor, comparing it to itā€™s replacement, the Rino-Tuff

Now, this was in the garden section. As I went up to the registers, I came upon a Clearance endcap and saw this tray of more of the ECHOā€™s at $2.99!

I grabbed a couple and intended to check out with them also, but when I double checked them to make sure that the UPC codes would be identical (donā€™t want a nasty surprise when checking out), it became apparent that the $2.99 sticker was purposefully placed over the original UPC code.

My Home Depot decided that they would try a little longer trying to get rid of the remaining stock. They used to be on clearance at $2.83, now instead of pulling them and marking them at a penny, they decided to sell them at a price of $2.99.

I put the 2 priced at $2.99 back and checked out with the one I found in garden, And yes, it was a penny.

^

Interesting. They overrode the products price by putting the sticker on the UPC. I haven't seen that happen before.

Yep, the one I found in garden was overlooked. Fair game as far as I am concerned.
Pulling the $2.99 stickers off would be a no - no. In fact I am sure it would be illegal.

As a matter of fact, a couple of months ago I reported on the OdorBan gallon jug and aerosol can combo that went on clearance at $2.53.

I found out by accident, that even though the price was $2.53, if the UPC code on the separately included aerosol can was scanned instead of the UPC code for the combo, it would ring up for a penny.
The self checkout price checker came up with an item recall with the penny price. That too, would be illegal, Iā€™m sure.
I never mentioned it at the time so as not to tempt anyone.
In this pic, I spun the aerosol can to expose itā€™s UPC code.

And speaking of recalls.
A month or so ago I found one of these Ridgid portable work supports on clearance at $7.53.

That 1 was the only one I ever saw. Never saw another.
The problem was though, and I didnā€™t realize it at the time I bought it, was that it was missing the adjustment hardware.
Just the other day, I finally found another. And I knew it would ring up at a penny.
Here are the pieces I was lacking.

and they are used to adjust the height of the support surface.

Those parts are too hard to make, so up until now I was out of luck.
But when I checked out at self service, an extended warranty notice popped up which required input from the cashier. When she saw a penny, she told me she would sell it to me for that but she had to call the tool guy. When she got off the phone she told me it was against the law, these were recalled.
(We have heard this excuse before)

So I brought the unit over to him and told him about my previous purchase and the parts I lacked. He told me I could have anything I wanted off the penny one, he just couldnā€™t sell it to me. That suited me just fine.
Then he explained that they really were recalled, as people were sitting on them as though it were a chair. The top swivels and the height adjustment could let go and they were dangerous.
So the whole ordeal was a win-win. I got the parts I needed, and HD didnā€™t have to refund me for the one I paid $7.53 for.

My only regret was that there were 3 more on the shelf

Lots and lots of stuff here just made the 2 price.
2 days ago I happened to notice these stickers.

I looked, but I couldnā€™t find a single one of these items at this store, but I did some at another.

I know these are tagged at $5.04, but they rang up for $2.52. Metric Allen, SAE Allen and Torx

Here are the 3 individually and would cost over $20

Would you rather buy 2 lights for $3.32, or only 1 for $11.97?

How about this EverReady Lantern Light with battery for $1.42, or just the battery for $4.68?

This 24 pack of AAA Alkalines was $1.32

Even though they were marked at $2.54

This screwdriver set was $3.82. Best part of this set is that there are NO Torx bits!

This even though they were marked at $7.54

All these and more I scored because I noticed the price tags on the cart at another store. This store for the most part had not yet changed the price tags, so they had not yet been scooped up.

So yesterday I scored a razorback shovel for $7.53 marked down from. $34. It was actually tucked away out of sight in the clearance area. And only noticed by my 4 year old because he gets into everything!

On my way out I heard a little grumbling between 2 employees that, ā€œhe got that last shovelā€

Seeing these shovels were not there last week when I took those pictures I can only guess that they may have been stashed away for a while so employees could snag them at the price drop.

Great deal! I saw those too, but I got a couple last year at that great price.

I actually was in one store that had all 4 of those tools at the ā€œ3ā€ price.
Right next to this display was a display for metal tined rakes for $3.33 I was with a friend and we bought them all.

Going up to the registers, we thought he had just scored a great deal. Turns out the guy in line in front of us did MUCH better!!!
2 - 12 foot wide rolls of carpeting. One roll contained 14 square yards, the other 16ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦
The 2 HD employees you see are trying to figure how to ring up his sale.

The customer is on the left, he came across this deal on the floor. These 2 rolls were priced as shown.
Top of tag, ā€œReduced 100%ā€

14 cents and 16 cents.
Home Depot had pennied these 2 rolls out. Rather than throw them in the dumpster, taking up valuable dumpster space, they decided to sell each at 1 cent per square yard!
So he ended up paying 30 cents, + tax

I need to expand the scope of my deal hunting in HD. :person_facepalming:

Ok. In getting a bit frustrated. Iā€™ve ask a number of times how to do this but to no avail. I am officially the ā€œgoofā€ who rings up the whole store at self checkout without buying a thing. I mean, ive tried everying thing! My store has items dated from last July, august, selfā€¦ and no discount any different than the orange sticker price.

And what in the world is the 2 price or 6 price or 99 priceā€¦ idk?! This is nuts. I guess I am done and will quit reading this thread as it just makes me angry! I think maybe you guys are part of an out of control joke, laughing at everyone who gives this a try. (Iā€™ve been involved in college humor before)

No, I do believe that you are getting deals but I still donā€™t get it or my store is an exception to the rule?
