**MULTIPLE** Sales Threads Issue

I also wish there was an ignore feature on this forum, but that would not stop Commercial Spam from showing up in recent posts, its a totally separate issue.

That feature did exactly that. Forum can be setup in a way that commercial posts wouldn’t show up for recent posts. At least that is how I remember it. I wonder what happened to that feature.

What is my crime?

Every day I am working to get the best deals from Gearbest store manager.
So, I get 3-5-10 deals every day and place the coupon codes in my topic.

What does happen next? After a short time, coupons are copied to other forum topics.
(In the official Gearbest topic also publishes the coupons I received. Sometimes they forget to do it)

I approve that 70-80% of the coupons in my thread were received by me PERSONALLY from the Gearbest manager.
I can confirm this - I still have Skype correspondence.

The remaining coupons are from other sources, not from the BLF.

Concerning my second topic.

On March 8, I was given 31 holiday coupon with very good offers.
I thought they deserved a separate topic. And half a day did the design of the topic, I drew images with logos, etc.

Yes, I see that I was wrong. But is this a crime?

Please be fair!

really? I do not understand. Do you mean that if I put user Banggood on ignore, and then I reply to a thread they started, that my reply would not bump the thread to the Recent Posts that the BLF Home page is made of?

imo, the whole problem is that the Home page is the Recent Posts, and that Recent Posts in a Commercial thread bumps the Commercial thread to the BLF Home page.

I agree BLF Home page could be set up to not list Recent Posts from the Commercial forum. That way CRX and I could go to the Commercial forum if we choose to, without being forced to see Commercial threads on the BLF Home page.

The second one, we had that exactly like that IIRC. there were two “recent post” links, one with and one without commercial posts.

Its good to post new deals, but most of those deals are already public.
Like every day I see new deals posted by you containing the Skilhunt H03 for example, this is a really old deal.
If a code runs out and gets replaced then it is important to update.

Why not simple say Aff links gets updated the codes once per day?

No crime of course
But no special deal either AFAIK, just the regular deals and flash deals , that you get them via Skype or email doesn’t change the fact that if any user browses to Gearbest they see the same deals.
Just keep it at one thread please or surprise us with some real unique or special deals.
Also do a little more, review lights, use part of your profits to get some sweet lights to show us in and out. Mod a couple, show why a deal is a good deal. That is contributing to the community
For all I know you do flashlights deals here, RC deals on a RC forum, knifes on a knife forum. Again no crime and your right if admins allow it, but a bit more engagement is just nice to see and shows undisputed you are fond of flashlighs and not in it for money

I know sb doesn’t like this idea but I’d agree to something along these lines. Its got to the point as others have mentioned that the front page is flooded with sales threads flogging the same dead horse. When is to many enough. As for only posting twice a day whats to stop the thread getting bumped by others every ten minutes which seems to happen on a couple of sales threads.
As for the sales threads owners complaining well stiff.

I just yesterday made a C8 with an XHP50 diode and two 18350 batteries.

But my knowledge of English does not allow me to communicate on the forum. I’m just reading ….

When I first published the received codes together, they were reprinted in other topics. And my theme fell down.
Then I started to publish codes one by one … :frowning:
That was wrong.

Administrator prohibited to publish proposals in the new message. I shall use the first message only.

It should be noted that we used to have a personal commercial category for paying banner advertisers on BLF, but those threads weren’t displayed on the Recent Posts list. Eventually, that commercial category was removed, because it was a total flop, almost nobody was finding or reading posts in that subforum because its posts didn’t appear in Recent Posts. So it should be clearly understood that relegating a specific category to not appearing on the Recent Posts list is almost the same as deleting it.

I have no problem with affiliate threads. Some good deals in m4dm4x,r3crac,fin17,freem or whoever deal threads.

Coupons will not be, if they are not requested.
Or rather - will only be to holidays, promotions and anniversaries.

Many times in my topic I was thanked.
Even more - in PM.

So I dare to hope that my activity is not harmful to the forum.

r3crac, you were afraid to speak under your own nick?

Other clones will come too?

Wait, what?

There are browser extensions helpful for choosing to block display of what you don’t want to see;
using that kind of tool also helps filter out areas that aren’t of interest.

I miss Usenet (sigh). No interface on the web works as well
as a newsreader like “rn” or “nn” did, for choosing what not to see.

Advertisers like us to see pages a lot, I expect.

I mostly read rarely using the “Recent Posts” link

Usually when I come by I want to see just new comments in subscribed threads —

that view helps a lot: http://budgetlightforum.com/my-subscriptions-new

(after using the “My Subscriptions” User Menu option over there on the sidebar to unsubscribe to individual threads)

Every day or two I look at the page of new comments and subscribe to what I want to see more of.

Please stop.

My opinion is that the threads in that forum should not appear on the front page (home page).

They are updated basically CONSTANTLY and are ALWAYS taking up space on the front page.

I don’t necessarily have a problem with those threads existing, I just don’t like that they are always at the top.

Remove the “commercial sellers” and “BLF user negotiated deals” from being displayed on the home page and I think that would be great. The threads can still be updated and available, but users just need to go to the forum to see them.

I predominately use this site from the home page. I never really browse the subforums to see what is actively happening. Some forums do not move, some do. The fron page it the best way I have to get a thorough oversight of what is happening here.

Just my opinion here…
My experience on other forums was that the “Seller” was not allowed to “bump” his own thread more than once in 24 hours. Actively answering direct questions was OK but meaningless posts to a thread to get it back on top of the front page were not allowed.
Commercial Sellers were (and should be) required to pay a monthly Fee to benefit the site. Private sales are free, but limited.

This Affiliate Link profiting is a side-line Commercial seller scenario and these users should be forum sponsors in some way. Even a monthly $25 flashlight GAW if not giving to the site directly. Set a $20 FINE for violations. If the Admin needs to take time to monitor certain people he should get something for the time and hassle. I bet the rules get straight pretty quick or the offender’s disappear.
